#Why GIF?

Hi. I was browsing picture files and to my surprise I found many of them with the GIF suffix. Was this a decision to save library space? What I really want to know is if there is a utility available to convert these gifs into our own iff's? These ibm files are obviously useless to me as is. Thanks for the info. Henry

Henry, GIF has been an extremely popular method of storing graphics for a long time. It works for almost any computer. GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format – available for all. Almost any of the Amiga file viewers will be able to display GIF images. And there are a number of utilities in the graphics utilities library that will convert from GIF to IFF, if that is what you need. Those are not IBM files, incidentally – just graphic files in GIF format. —Betty
