#Toaster (CG) Crashes

Hello all from a (new?) 5 month 4.0 Toaster user. While everything is
working fairly nicely, I have been getting quite of few lock-ups & of
course, system crashes while using the CG. The machine is a A2000HD
with GVP030 40MHZ 16Meg ram. Also installed is a TBCII and GVP
TBCPlus. The lock-ups are somewhat random, the A2000 still fairly
cool (not running long). Last night, while editing a 30 page book,
it locked 5 times.
One other note, on come cold mornings the Toaster system would not genlock
until after maybe 10 minutes. Then it was ok.
Any ideas?

As with all things computer…there are many variables that can cause
intermittant crashes. If you aren't timid about opening up the box and
fiddling around, you might try pressing down firmly on all the board
seated chips installed on the mother board. Then check your
acellerator card to make certain all it's memory chips are snug, as
well as the acellerator board itself (making sure it's a snug fit in
it's slot.
Regarding the genlock/warmup issue. There is a small set screw on the side of
the T4000 card labeled Center Frequency. It may just be possible that tweeking
it ever so slightly (less than a 1/4 turn) to one direction or the other will
do the trick.
(had to do this recently myself and was suprised at how finicky the unit was in
a 2000 compared to a 4000)

Scott: I've been told that Toaster CG will barely work, and only on a few
systems at all, if you only have 1 meg Chip RAM.
I recently installed a Toaster in a 2000 for a client. Even with 16MB
fast RAM Toaster CG would not even boot. I'd suspect any CG problems
you have will disappear if you install a DKB MegAChip 2000.
NewTek has confirmed that 2MB is really the minimum Chip RAM
requirements for Toaster CG 2.0+ (Though some, like yourself, have
been able to get it to work)
The bad news is that you'll have to spend a little more cash, but the
good news is that the MegAChips have dropped in price.
