#Keyframer "Path Steps"

Hi, I have some very long paths with lots of curves to import from the 2D shaper to the keyframer… Keyframer seems to always put five keys on every curve, which means that my tracks are all jammed up with keys and can't be smoothed… Is there a way to change the "path steps" for splines imported to the Keyframer? (Changing the steps settings in Shaper doesn't help.) My workaround has been to use Tempo to rebuild the position keys, but this can be time consuming… Thanks, Donald Newlands BRW, Inc.

Path/steps in Lofter? LAM

Larry, When you import a spline from the Shaper or from the Lofter to the Keyframer, you always get FIVE keys ("steps") per curved segment … Why? Is there a way to change this? It's a problem for us when we have to smoothly traverse long, twisty paths quickly and key spacing becomes an issue. Thanks, Donald Newlands BRW, Inc.

OK, I'll try again <g>. Have you tried lowering the Path/Steps value? The default is 5, and can be either increased or decreased. LAM

Larry, I looked for a "steps" setting in Keyframer and saw none — did I miss something?<g> I tried changing the shape steps in Shaper before importing it to Keyframer, but I always ended up with five keys per curve… Donald Newlands BRW, Inc.

Donald, I've been dealing with the same thing lately… long paths with keys in sets of five. At times I've had success when manually reducing the curves to the first, third, and last key. It becomes quite tedious, especially as I'm often making refinements back in the Shaper or Lofter, and have to start all over again! Let me know if you come up with a solution. Paul S.
