#9600 mesages

Whenever I connect at 9600 and try to type a message on-line, the cursor
doesn't return to the beginning of line when I hit CR. It just drops down one
line and to the right one character. Everything works fine at 2400. Both
worked fine untill about a month ago. I didn't change any settings, at least
not intentionally. Can anyone tell where how to go about fixing this? I tried
asking Compuserve but they didn't seem to have a clue as to what I was asking.

that's because your terminal emulation (and everyone's for that fact)
is different at 9600 than at 2400 as far as CIS is concerned.
GO TERMINAL at any CIS! prompt and set up your terminal type and tell
the system to default to that for connects at any speed.
Your other alternative is to append a *TTY to your user_id when you log
on, for example, for you that would be 71562,3372*TTY when the systems prompts
you for your user_id at logon time.

Don – I just tried doing what you suggested. I didn't see any default setting.
I already had it set to other and tried using some of the others but nothing
made a difference. I then tried appending the *tty to my user_id but the
system kept saying invalid id. Somewhen along the way I must have changed
something else because now everything is in upper case letters. Any idea where
I went wrong? -Jack

Ok, just GO TERMINAL and reset your preferences. Make sure you are
setup to support both upper and lower case and the other settings are correct.
Save it for all connect speeds and make the settings permanent.
Then you don't need to append the *TTY (btw…it's got to be in upper
case).
