#Questions on A2000
4 messages in this thread
Hello everyone…. I just bought a Amiga 2000, and besides using it till 12 am.
everynight, I would like to ask a few questions. 1. How long does the battery
for the clock in the A2000 last and is it easy to replace. 2. If a disk is
removed from the disk drive while the drive light is on what are the chances of
damaging the drive heads.(My wife did it!!) 3. Has anyone heard anything about
when the second internal drive for the A2000 will come out?? 4. Any good
recommendations for a joy stick, my old Atari joy stick has had it!!(I guess I
said a bad word…Atari).

Kevin,
I can't help out with the battery or clock questions, but, the EPYX 500XJ gets
my vote for joystick. I got it when I bought PLUTOS, since the old one I had
was a bit too slow and I have been very impressed. One caution, it clicks
audibly with each joystick movement or fire. If you're planning on using the
Ami 'til midnight and your wife did item 2 for the reason that my wife might to
the same thing, you might want to choose a quiter joystick (or at least buy one
of each. The 500XJ is a great one to have.)

Hi, I got my second internal disk drive for my A2000 on 11/07/87. I'm located
in New York City.

Kevin,
The chances of harming the heads is about 0%, though if it is removed while
writing, you will have to put it back in for it to finish. Chances of it
clobbering data in a way that can't be recovered are small, but present. Moral,
wait for that light while writing. If a disk is only being read, you can safely
pull it out, and the worst that will happen is that it asks for the disk and
carries on.
Regards, Larry.
