IFF TO OBJECT CONVERSION

I'm looking for a program that will convert a scanned b&w line art image
(from GD's ProScan) into an object oriented image for use in DTP ications.
Any suggestions?

Gold Disk includes a tracing program with Pro Draw 2.0. Do you have that?
If not, look into purchasing it, or getting an upgrade…
John: Thanks for the reply regarding TRACE from Gold Disk. As I understand
it, Trace does not allow a centerline trace and this would cause
problems…turning thick line into wireframes (due to edge detection). Is
this true?
Also, will Trace out put to IFF format or just PDraw clip format. As a
PgStream user, this is a major concern.

Trace's input is IFF, why would you want ot output to IFF?

Did I say that I want to output from TRACE to IFF? Sorry. I want to convert
a B & W scanned image saved in IFF to an object and then output it to a
format that Pagestream can import and print to an HPLaserjet II
(non-potscript).
IFF is not object-oriented. If you want to change a PDraw clip into an
IFF, I understand there is a utility in the PDraw clip art volume(s) which
will do this. This way the clip art itself is also useable by programs
that take IFF bitmapped art.
You're correct that trace doesn't do centre-line trace, but it does
trace along both sides of even a thin line, then fills the space in
between, so you'll still end up with a line (whether thick or thin) and not
just the edges of the line.

Neil…Thanks for the info on how TRACE handles lines (line fills). That
means that it may do what I want. I'd hate to purchase the program and
then not be able to accomplish what I need.

Have you tried Professional Draw also from GD? the new version (2.0) has a
utility with it that will auto trace IFF's and make ProDraw clips out of
them.
