I am a french Amiga user, and i'd like to know if someone have an idea on
how to use a Microsoft Mouse (new model) on my Amiga, in place of the
standard on. It would help me a lot !!! Greetings from Paris Friendly

To the best of my knowledge, the available Microsoft mice are serial types
only, which isn't a plug-in replacement for an Amiga mouse. It _might_ be
possible to interface a Microsoft Bus type mouse (i.e. a mouse that sends
quadrature inputs instead of serial byte messages) if the new bus mouse is
not just a serial type that plugs into a special card. You'd have to
examine the signals available from the mouse and match them up to the
Amiga's inputs if possible. The Microsoft Bus mice that I've seen do not
have a 9 pin connector, so if you run across a mouse that has a 9-pin
connector, chances are that it won't work.

Thank's for your answer.
In fact, the Microsoft's new mouses are both serial and bus. It's means
that you just have to use an other cord to connect the mouse to a serial
port, the standard plus is a PS2 IBM compatible.

If your message says what I think that it says, then you definitely can not
use it as a direct replacement Amiga mouse (i.e. one that plugs into the
Amiga's mouse port). I thought that this might be the case.
I believe that at one time in the past, they made a bus mouse that did
drive quadrature inputs. Apparently, not anymore.
