I have recently found a problem with my hard drive (actually it found me!).
I visit the GURU several times a session. It only happens when I boot the
system with disks in the drives, if I boot with no disks in the drives I
have few problems. But once I visit the GURU I have several conversations
with him until I can get the machine back up. The usual best procedure is
to secure the power for several seconds (>15).
Does anybody have a clue at the problem????? I though it might be
my DF0: drive. I am lost PLEASE drop me a line.

I found soon after I bought my HD a couple of years ago that it was
definitely _NOT_ a good idea to boot with a non-bootable floppy in df0:.
When asked about it, my dealer replied, "Why would you even _think_ it
would work." Figuring that I was beating a dead horse, I just started
ejecting my floppies before booting the machine. It's a bad situation for
a system that must run unattended, but I know of no other solution.
I wanted to let you know that the problem is not unique to the particular
HD setup that you have, since I don't have a Supra HD. I suppose that if
you need to run a system unattended, the best bet would be to create a
minimal boot floppy for df0: and not use autoboot.
I'll be following the thread to see if there really is a solution for the
problem.

Thanks for the info. It got really bad the other week, but I think
I had a program that was corrupt, (old original disk). Once I geot rid of
that program the GURU errors drop to minimum (4 to 5 a seesion), but I am
leary of the DF0: drive.
I have lattice C Version 5.0.4 that if I load it to the HD all I
get is one GURU after another. Since I do most of my programing in this
language it is a real pain in the A–.
I hope to get this straightened out soon. I purchased QB Tools for
the job, but got version 1.0. From what I understand this is a bug pile,
and they have made several revisions to it. I hopeto get them soon.

Bruce, Have you tried calling Supra and asking them what might be causing
your trouble. tell us what computer your running and how much MEMORY what
Harddrive. I had the Supra Word sync running to eighty meg Seagates without
a hitch. I traded a old 2090 for the New GVP Series II Controller and sold
my Supra. What version of the SupraBoot are you using.

would those 80MB Seagates connected to the Supra interface be 1096N's,or
the older 296N's?
They were the st-296N. Older? I thought the ST-1096N were 3.5 inch drive
and the ST-296N were 5.25, that means different not older. But what the
heck.

Yes, they are different sizes, but the 296N was widely available quite some
time before the 1096N. Most (if not all) new HD models for micros are 3.5"
units.
A have a Supra series2 SCSI interface (driver software version 1.10) on my
A500 and it'll boot fine every time with a floppy in DF0:. In fact, it darn
well SHOULD work.

The original complaint was that the system was unstable and would guru
randomly. I merely responded that I had experienced similar failures with
a non-Supra autoboot HD when I would boot the machine with a non-bootable
floppy in df0:, so I doubted that the problem was with the Supra system.
As far as whether it SHOULD work, we're in agreement. Often, though, there
is some distance between what "should be" and what "IS". 8)

I thought I should add that before the Supra interface, I was using a
Pacific Peripherals Synergy interface, which would also autoboot reliably
under the same conditions (I switched to the Supra because P.P. promised a
RAM daughterboard for the Synergy which never arrived).
