#Abnormal Termination
5 messages in this thread
Just had something weird happen. I just finnished rendering 179 frames to
752×480 TGA to disk. They used LENZFX FLARE. When I went to view a frame of
the sequence using render/ view / image, – of course I was prompted to resize
which I clicked then something weird- In DOS I get the following after "
resizing image" " EMM 386 Unrecoverable privileged operation error#1 press
enter to reboot" Nothing like this has ever happened before. I'm running a
p5-66 with 16m of RAM.
I should also tell that I put a line in my config.sys according to Digimation's
suggestion which ammounted to Device=c:\Windows\himem.sys\ EMM386.EXE RAM 256
X=F000, F- rest of address. After removing the addition to the config file
the files were able to be viewed as normal- but I have not solved the
additional problem of lenzfx causing swapping even though current status shows
more than 12M available. Please forgive my long- windedness but I feel that
the two problems are related. I will be contacting Digimation but it's after
midnight & I would like to know if anyone else running lenzfx has experienced
anything similar
Thanks in advance- Jeff
<<of course I was prompted to resize>>
Just out of curiosity, why is that normal?
Scott,
when you render an image that is too large for your display( mine is 512X486)
3ds normally prompts you to resize the image or chop it or cancel if you wish
to view it after it has been rendered to disk " Of course I chose resize" so I
could see what the 752X480 image was approximately. I hope that satisfies your
curiosity

>>when you render an image that is too large…<<
Actually, when you _view_ an image that is too large, you're prompted to resize
or chop. When you render a scene using a bitmap as a background, you can choose
to Rescale or Tile the background bitmap in the Render dialog box. In a similar
vein, if (in the Renderer/Configure dialog box) you set a resolution for your
output rendering that's larger than your display device, the rendered image
will be chopped to the size of your display device, unless you either render to
a Null device, or turn on the No Display button.

_View_ an image is what I was doing when the program terminated. I may have
gotten the terminology mixed when I was trying to explain the situation. I
still don't understand why I got the unrecoverable emm386 priviliged operation
error#1 when I tried to view the image. I've _viewed_ hundreds of images prior
to this one rendered with LENZFX and Digimation's prescribed modification to my
config .sys file. If you have any idea what caused the above mentioned error,
that is the nature of the difficulty I am having. I will direct this to
Digimations programmers as well. Thanks Jeff
