The ability to deal with assigned shapes with the same tools that you can deal with selected shapes. assigning shapes by selected set, quad, circle, fence, etc. thanks -Kyle

Jonas, A related wish: why can't you work with selected elements in the editor like you can with faces, objects, etc.? Is there something specific to elements? This has caused me considerable headaches. Thanks, Scott p.s.- sorry about swamping you with all these messages- I've been off-line for awhile

The fact that you cannot affect certain transformations with selected elements shouldn't be too much of a problem, Scott. Simply select the elements you wish to deal with and use the /Faces/Selected thread of commands. This should give you the flexibility you are looking for. -Alan

Hi Scott, << why? >> Questions that start with why are hard for me to answer. 🙂 . In general, it comes down to how the underlying data structure architecture is initially designed. Does Alan's answer help you out? jonas[adesk]

Didn't Jack or Gary once mention that a string of /Element/Selected commands would effectively duplicate the /Faces/Selected ones and be a bit redunant? Hmmmm…just thought I remembered something like that… -Alan

Hi Alan, << ..thought I remembered.. >> good memory.. On April 13th, 1994 Jack said.. "Because of the calculations involved in locating elements within an object (particularly several elements in an object), Element functions are not available with the Selection button. HOWEVER, once you've selected the element, you can do anything you want with it by using the Modify/Face commands. You'll find this written up under "Select/Element" on page 7-64. – Jack"

Hi Jonas (and Alan), Yes, Alan's suggestion does help me out (thank you, Alan). Maybe in the future I'll try asking for a solution instead of asking you to rewrite the program :). It does lead me to another question, tho. When you select something in one category (for example, a face), does it also select any category which the first category is made up of (all the vertexes that the face is made from)? If I select an object, when I modify vertexes selected will it affect it any differently than if I had selected all of the vertexes with a quad? Just wondering… Scott
