I run the forms editor from superbase all the time. You due need to
assign SBpro4: to the location of Sbfd4 in your startup-sequence or use the
AssignSB icon supplied in the icon drawer, but you still have to wright a
script file for the icon and execute the icon before starting up superbase.
I guess my feelings about SPC and the Amiga were right. Didn't take them
long to sell off the products the did not want. OXXI is going to support
their products with a 900 NUMBER!!. Might be time to change systems.

My interpretation of the original posting was that registered users get to
use an ordinary number, while the "900" number was for non-registered
useres (an incentive to register?), and "other questions" (whatever that
means).
Of course, I could be wrong…

No, I don't think that's they way it's being handled. When someone buys
SBPro4, they get 90 days of free technical support. You call (213)427-1227
during this time. After that 90 days, you call the 900 number. They will
probably answer letters and faxes fr free after your 90 days (this is NOT
official, just my personal guess!), and of course you can get help here on
Compuserve.

Ouch! I hope they change that policy :-/
Tim (who has just been stung by having 0898 numbers barred from the office
— 0898 is the UK equivalent to 900–)
Oxxi's technical support policy for the former Precision products is
approx. the same as the US Precision support policy. The first 90 days of
telephone technical support are fre. This period starts at registration or
first request for support. After the initial 90-day free period, users
have two options. Further telephone tech support can be paid for on a
per-call basis (the 900-line) or through an extended tech support package.
Users who purchase extended support packages will be able to call the Long
Beach telephone number (310) 427-1227. Users who opt to pay for individual
calls will need to call the (900) 776-6994 number. The cost for calls to
this line is $1 for the first minute, $2 for each additional minute.
Callers to this line will NOT put on hold orasked to wait for an available
technician.
Users in Europe requiring technical assistae shuld call the Precision UK
office.
PLEASE NOTE that Mail and FAX technical support is always free.
Regards, Patricia Cummings @ Oxxi (310) 427-1227
Patricia, Thanks for clarifying the situation. The impression that I was
getting from people here was that the 900 number was the only option (and I
was prevented from callung the _US Embassy_ in London yesterday because
they have an 0898 number!). This evidently is not the case.
Tim (trying not to meddle in overseas affairs, honest!)
How long has this policy been in effect? Someone on your technical support
line some time ago didn't mention any initial 90-day free period, only the
900 number.
Thanks for the info.

Change systems as in "use other database software on the Amiga"? You might
want to give Oxxi a chance. They're much smaller than SPC and will have to
handle things accordingly. Give them time.

Jim,
I don't know if I would jump ship quite yet. Admitted, 900 number support
is hard on the pocketbook, but it beats the h#ll out of calling long
distance international which is what I have to do usually. In any case, the
Windows version of the software is going to have a rosy future, and if Oxxi
develops it along those lines, it will make the marketability of any
product that much better if there is already a platform that will run it on
another machine, whether the original machine was an Amiga or a Windows-PC.
If they just get the network capability together so that an Amiga can work
in the same network with a Windows-PC and talk to the same database, there
might be a future for the Amiga in some business offices yet.
Ciao, Neil
