I Have a Tandy CDR1000 and so far so good! This thing has revolutionized the way I work. Everything works with one noteable exception! I have the Software Toolworks Illustrated Encyclopedia and the text and pix are good but I can't get any sound. Other discs that have sound work fine (Mammals, Stellar 7,TimeTable of History…) but no go on the Encyclopedia. I took the d the disc to a local computer store and it worked on their machine. I have a 286 with plenty of free base RAM even after the extensions are loaded, so I don't think memory is a problem. If anyone has any suggestions please leave me a message. I bought the Player without any software so I had to buy the CD's understandably I want the thing to work. [D [D Thanks for any assistance Mike There is 1 Reply.

Mike, I got the Software Toolworks Illustrated Encyclopedia as part of the software bundled with my drive. This CD has no sound. It is last year's encyclopedia. I called Grolier directly and they upgraded the disk to the 1991 version, which they call the Electronic Encyclopedia and it has lots of sounds. Although I believe the upgrade offer has expired, they may still accomodate you. Give them a call. They're in Connecticut. —Dwight

Phil, I bought the DAK bundle a few months ago. Call Grolier and try to upgrade that encyclopedia disk to the 1991 version- It has lots of sounds, and is very impressive. Much better than Comptons Family encyclopedia which comes with the Sony Laser Library <IMHO>. …Dwight
