#Sham/Gif

Is there a way to convert SHAM to gif ?
It doesnt seem that this would be to difficult, but I am not sure there is a
program to do so.
As of right now, no. I've got plans to add this into AMGIF, once I find out
what the format of the special chunk SHAM uses is, and I have the time (Hah!
Time? What's that?) to do it.

Jonathan,
The Sony BVU-150 is a portable U-Matic SP field recorder designed to
be hooked up to the camera of your choice. It is not an editing deck by any
stretch of the imagination. It was designed purely for the capture of video
data outside of the studio environment. The time code generator lays down
longitudinal time code which can be utilized by in-studio editing decks and
edit controllers equipped to utilize time code and the U-Matic Sp format.
If you need sucha deck, it may be a good purchase. If field capture of
video data with a camera crew is not your intent, I would pass on it, and
/or tell friends that you may have about it so that it can end up in the
hands of someone who will use it forits intended purpose.

Jim,
As of right now, there is no need to convert SHAM files to GIF as
all SHAM files are converted FROM GIF files. This ability would be redundant as
the GIF Files already exist. Later, If and When a SHAM paint program is
developed, this feature might be useful, but for now, it is redundant.

Blaine,
What I had in mind when I said converting sham to gif is uploading already
converted sham pictures to bbs' that do not support amiga's (such as IBM
boards)
Well, the ORIGINAL pics were GIF files, and they must have been MADE on the
IBM, or else they would look OK on the AMIGA!! so there is no need for you to
help the IBM people, cause the UNCONVERTED GIF will look GOOD on their
computers!!

Did that come out ok??
I have not seen G-Lock or Opal-Vision, but I can recommend the SuperGen as
an excellent value. I just used it on a local station's news broadcast and
it held up great. It is a very tried and true product. You may even find
one on the used market.
John
John,
that "news broadcast" mention caught my eye. Can you tell us what
exactly you did? I always love reading about other people's real-life
experiences and projects. (One reason why I like Avid magazine so much)
Blaq!
Blaq!,
What I did for the local station's (Channel 8 in New Haven, CT) news
broadcast was a demonstration on how do Morphing on a computer. It was for
a "Mr. Science" weekly feature and this bit was on the morphing rage now
seen on TV ads. There I was on TV using the Ham-E, SuperGen, and Image Pro
software showing how to morph the weather man to the news anchor (I wish I
had version 9.21, but it wasn't out yet). They interviewed me and showed
that morph and another one that I did. The purpose was to show that anyone
with a computer (we know it has to be an Amiga) can do morphing. You could
see the Amiga nameplate on the computer but they didn't use the part where
I played up the virtues of Ami. It came out real well and I got instant
noteriety, if not job offers.
John
Remember the MAC does Morphing too,Gryphon Software makes a $150 Morph prg
and it's FAST too from what I hear MIDGARD GRAPHICS
I've seen samples of the Mac morphing, and it looks choppier in most of
them, compared to the Amiga ones. I was watching the samples on a TV show
promoting morphing used in recent movies and TV projects. They just forgot
to add that Macs weren't video-ready. *8>

The Mac morph program is called (suprise!) "MORPH". My friend uses it and
single-frames from it and the results are real nice. Of course, he is very
talented doing these kind of things.
MORPH has the usual dots you move around, but also has a line that
interconnects the dots. Not sure what the line does, I figure it might
modify the dots' influence, or how much image the dots affect. Without the
line the dots affect a circular area. The line might elongate the circle
into an elipse with the long axis on the line, or the average of the lines
on either side of the dot.

I see there is now an after-market morph program for Imagine (is it maybe
called GenMorph? I forget), which I would presume allows 3-D morphing. I
wonder if that's the only product of its type. All the other morph
programs I'm aware of on any desktop computer are 2-D.
Yes Imagine's morph prg is Called Morphus and is about $80 or so. MIDGARD

There is a `after-martek' program sold by Impulse themselves and it is
called Mophus. Imagine can already do 3D morphing but this program can
supposedly let you alter an object to form another morphable object. I
played around with it at the local store and was unable to do anything
with it, I'll just wait until Imagine 3.0.
Ron,
I believe GenMorph(?) was mentioned in the Impulse newsletter that came
out about a month ago. It works in conjunction with Imagine for morphing
3-d objects (someone else may have more info on it.) But, it is a whole
different ballgame than 2-d morphing.

Steve,IMagemaster now uses lines too.
Peter,
Re: Imagemaster now uses lines…
I see, 9.22, right? And the morphs look a whole lot better! (Good
going, Ben) I don't know if the lines have anything to do with that, or
are they there to help the user keep track of what points go where.
-Steve
9.23 is the current critter; 9.23 is a FREE upgrade from 9.21 or 9.22,
btw… we had compile problems and messed up both of those. Took us two
weeks to find the root cause of about 35 reported "bugs"… all the wrong
linker library. :^( Anyway, get 9.23, the morphing and AGA support is all
running correctly now.
The lines allows you to create regions that have no "bulges", to put it in
a nutshell. Previously, Imagemaster had a tendancy to lump-up around edges
that had a lot of control points. No longer.

Hello, I need help!! I have a Rockgen Plus genlock and i'm using an
accelerated a2000 with the origin flicker fixer with an NEC multisync
monitor. The pin configuration on the genlock are the standard RGB ports
but the flickerfixer output is much smaller than standard. I want to use
the RGB in and through ports on the genlock. Can I do it? where do I get
the cable? If I can't do it, what's my solution? or possible solutions?
Good going, John!

Ben, Thanks go to you and that System you call Black Belt. Do ya want a
copy of the bit that appeared on TV? Glad to forward it.
John
We would *love* a copy – thanks!

Is it possible to Create Transparency's for Genlocking using 2 different
colors in IM?I don't think so but I'd like to be proven wrong Reason I ask
is I have a lovely Anim of a T2 like Endo-skeleton walking across the
Screen and the "SKY" is light blue and the "Ground" is Dark Blue and I'd
like to genlock a Real location behi [Cd the Computer graphic of the
Android walking.I could always flood fill the colors out but that'd take
longer.Thanx.MIDGARD GRAPHICS
Yes, it's possible, but I'm not sure it'd be any faster.
If you look in the area selection panel, there are some logical operators
in there. Among others, there is "OR" with previous region. Select an area
based on one color. Now, select another area based on another color, and
this time use the OR operation. The resulting mask (which you can save if
you like) will cover the tow areas. If the mask is backwards, then use
Exclude Region when you apply it.

Thanx for the tip on using 2 colored area's for genlocking.MIDGARD GRAPHICS
