I have recently downloaded your AFT genealogy program, v1.2, and am very
impressed with the ease of data input and the speed and flexibility of the
tree display. I have a few suggestions for improving the program:
1. Add marriage date and place to GEDCOM export and import. This will be
very useful to those who want to use a GEDCOM file exported from AFT to
feed utilities for printed output such as ahnentafels and pedigree
charts.
2. Fix bug in GEDCOM export of DATEs. This problem occurs when a record
is being output for an INDIvidual for whom the birth date or death date is
unknown. A date is output from a previous INDIvidual's record, and this
date appears as both a birth date and death date. It behaves as if the
DATE field is not being cleared as a new INDIvidual's record is being
assigned. Better yet, if it is easy to discern this, you could suppress
output of DATE fields when they are unknown, instead of outputting blanks.
(Note that this problem does not occur for PLACe fields, only for DATEs)
3. In the tree display, sometimes a second spouse is not visible and can't
be selected. They are out of view on the right. Is there a way to allow
scrolling when someone is out of view? (A workaround is to use SuperHiRes
screen mode and resize the window larger, but please save my eyes!)

Unfortunately, due to work pressure, I have not been able to work on
AFT at all since version 1.2 was released. I hope to get some free time
soon to fix some outstanding bugs. I have rechecked the first two points
you raised, and these are both bugs which I will try to fix when I get the
chance.
As to the third point regarding the window size, it is not necessary to
use the superhires screen mode in order to resize the window. In the
screenmode preferences program you can make the workbench screen any size
you like, memory permitting. You can then scroll the tree display simply
by moving the mouse pointer to the edge of the screen.

I've had my A3000 for over a year and a half and didn't know you could set
the screen size larger than the viewable area and use the mouse to scroll!
I tried this with AFT and found (with the screen width at 1024 or so)
that I could now scroll to view a second spouse on the tree display.
It seems when the user resizes the AFT window that children are redrawn to
fit the new window size, but that spouses aren't. I suppose what I
originally wanted to request was that the distance between spouses on the
tree be scalable the same way the distance between siblings is currently
scalable. For instance, a family with five children is drawn in two rows,
one with 3, the other with 2. However, on a larger window that same
family is drawn with the children in one row of 5 children. Could a
similar thing be implemented for an individual with more than one spouse?

After giving it some thought, it should be possible to move the
spouses closer together in some cases, however, the present spacing is
worked out to give enough room for both parents of both spouses to also be
displayed, this is what really takes up the room. If one or other of the
spouses has no parent information entered, I suppose they could be moved
closer together but much of the time you cant really do this.

Ah, so the spouses have to be spaced such that both of their parents are
visible in the row above them. I will probably use AFT mostly to enter
pedigree charts (as opposed to family groups), so I will want that
capability to traverse to the ancestors of both spouses. Maybe you should
forget my last suggestion and leave the spacing alone! The GEDCOM changes
will pay off much more, anyway, given limited time to make changes.
