Eddy,
Director 2 was an excellent script-based program for displaying images,
displaying animations, playing sound — with interactive capabilities. Because
it was essentially a programming language, it was very flexible though it came
with a steep learning curve. Unfortunately, it's no longer available and was
never updated to run on the later OS's. and chip sets.

Amiga software typically lets you draw in the overscan area, so Amiga is
more WYSIWYG for video. And you can get first-rate broadcastable NTSC
from an Amiga with a $1500 encoder compared to $10,000 or more for
equivalent quality from a PC.

Scala — except real time would be a problem with an unaccelerated 2000
unless you limited yourself to very simple low-resolution animations
>> all in the same box
Sorry.
