re: Needing some sort of storyboarding software. I have never used any, but have a hard time thinking how it might be of any use. Pencils are so much faster as a rule for that kind of thing. Not an answer, but maybe a solution that you hadn't thought of… One thing that I have used to effect in designing an animation is DeluxePaint Animate (or whatever it's called). I had many years experience on DP, so I could draw very effectively with it and the animation features of DPA allowed me to test motion and timing ideas. General thumbnail/storyboard kind of stuff. Nothing formal mind you, but in the end I did produce a final tape that closely resembled the 2d drawn animation. I am not familiar enough with Autodesk Animator, but it is a similar program and might do the job just as well. I think there may also be benefits for getting dxf data into AA.

Autodesk Animator or Animator Pro produce similar results to DP Animator. They are _very_ different in their functionality though, such as the way the menus look and how to go about different tasks. After learning Animator backward and forward I tried to learn DP Animator. I got very frustrated and just went back to Animator. I imagine you might have the same response to AA if you know DP real well. The great thing about AA and AA Pro is that they work so well with 3DS, so it might be worth it for you to struggle through the learning curve. Michele

>>frustrated and just went back to Animator. I imagine you might have the same response to AA<< I did. So far, I have not really had much of a need to integrate the two. I have found other things to do than learn how to use AA effectively. I can do frame duplication and stuff. Some day it will probably come up though…
