Where can I get the Amigaguide program for my A2000….. I have 2.1
workbench.
I appear to have an Amigaguide.library in my Libs directory, but can't
seem to get it to work. I must only assume that I must have something else
(in my tools directory) to read these documents, as they were originally
designed.
I am aware that there are conversion programs, that will strip out the
codes and make these more readable, but I would like to simply read them
in the Amigaguide as the great Amiga guru intended.
Was this program supposed to be included with the 2.1 Workbench, or is it
something that must be acquired?
A lot of the programs that I am downloading have .guide docs appended to
them and it looks like there would be soome good information in them if I
can access them in an organized manner.

Correct. You need the AmigaGuide 'the program' that actually reads the guide
files using the amigaguide.library. Normally, the AmigaGuide program is placed
in Utilites.
You can download the entire AmigaGuide system from AmigaUser LIB2 (Official
Updates), as file AMIGAG.LHA.
The amigaguide system should have been part of 2.1 (or even 2.04) but wasn't
finished in time. Commodore has released it as a downloadable 'update' for
users with earlier versions of the OS. AmigaDOS 3.x, shipped with a version of
amigaguide (Multiview plus amigaguide datatype) to read the guide files.

I now have it and it appears to work well….
Can I also find Multiview there?….. I will check my AP catalog, for that
as well…. Funny, I thought I had checked the catalog for Amigaguide, but
hadn't found it….Hmmmmm, maybe it was the Fred Fish disks I looked under
in my CD sets….Ahh well, I will get the hang of all these different File
Finders yet.

Nope. Multiview shipped as part of AmigaDOS 3.0 & 3.1. It also requires
AmigaDOS 3.x. Its is a utility that can display or play any pic, animation, or
sound file that has a 'datatype' for recognising & decoding it.

Multiview comes with and won't work without upgrading to WB 3.1 ROM.

What do think I've been *doing* to keep the cat from landing on its feet?
The cat spends so much time contorting its body to allow itself to lick the
butter, that it never gets around to aiming its feet at the ground. So far the
toast hasn't made back to the ground with the butter intact.

You need AmigaGuide and AmigaGuide.info in your Utilities drawer.
There is a copy of it in the AmigaUser Libraries – I *think* in the Commodore
updates. Look in Library 2 for AMIGAG.LHA.

I have AmigaGuide now and it appears to work well….
I thought I had checked the AmigaUser AP catalog for Amigaguide, but
hadn't found it, even though it apparently *was* lurking there…. If it
was a snake…….. Perhaps I will get the hang of the File Finder yet,
some sunny day.
I have soooo many new programs now (I'm getting close to 80 meg now on
that new 540meg drive), and you fellow CIS'rs have been such a great help
in implementing them.
I do greatly appreciate the assistance.
