I would like to know how users are switching between Amiga RGB and
Bridgeboard VGA with their multisync/VGA monitors.
What kind of switchboxes (if any) are you using, and where was it
obtained?
I have a 1950 monitor and 2320 card on order, and have an ATI VGA
Wonderboard (I'm waiting for the monitor before installing it). The ATI
manual states that the only time you should connect the monitor to the VGA
card is with the power off to the computer and monitor. Does anyone
manually switch the monitors with the power on?
Kevin, I use the Boca VGA card with my 1950 on my A3000 and a dataswitch
to flip back and forth between the two outputs. I got it from my local
dealer Slipped Disk here in Lansing MI. There number is
(517) 349-7353 there open monday-sat 10am-8pm
Ask for Dennis, and he can tell you where he got the Dataswitch and Cables
The Dataswitch has no brand name on it, just 4 posisitions a,b,c,d and I
use A fo for Amiga outout and B for iBm output. The cables are from
Goldstar and were not cheap. About $30 each if I recall. But the box is
cheap and it works GREAT
The only thing you have to do, is flip the switch to the VGA display after
the systems gets by the 2.0/1.3.2 bootup screen, ie; before you see the
workbench screen pop-up, or you wont get any VGA output, until you re-set
the BB using the old CTRL/ALT/DEL keys. Don't know why that is, nig might
have to do with the Data Switch, not sure, but it's no bug deal.
You can then switch between the Amiga and VGA screens at will with no
problems I love it. I just sit the box on top of my monitor and away I go.
The 1950 co comes with an Adaptor, that you must also use with the system.
I think it just changes the gender of the Monitor cord.
I also have a VGA board for my BB, and like you find that I have to switch
to it before the S-S does the binddrivers command (and start the BB) at
least until the BB's ROM boot message appears on the screen, or else I get
not VGA color, only VGA mono. I'm not real sure, but according to the
manual I have for my VGA card (a generic Paradise card) the card trys to
figure out what sort of monitor is hooked upto it, and adjusts itself
accordingly. I'm assuming that if it boots up with the Amiga video being
displayed, then the VGA board is in fact hooked to nothing, so the board
can't figure out what sort of monitor it's hooked to and defaults to mono.
Just how a board would know what sort of monitor it's hooked to is beyond
me, but apparently that's what it's doing.
I think it varies from VGA board to VGA board. I've seen some that revert
to the mono screen if the multisync monitor isn't on, and others that
ignore the state of the monitor. On my machine at home, with a Paradise
512K VGA card, I need to turn on the monitor. On another machine I use
often, it's an Everex 512K VGA card, and yet on others I've seen, with
different (Video 7?) cards, it doesn't care that you don't turn on the
monitor as you boot the machine, it just comes up in color.

Well here is some info … i have a AT bridgeboard in my amiga
2000… i have a paradise 16 VGA adapter, WD1006MM1, ATI MODEM
well 1st thing you should do… is 1st… set your prefs to no COLOR and NO
Mono.. second thing have a switch box…. ok after you boot up and the IBM
is reboot the IBM side.. after that you will boot up in COLOR VGA…. that
is what I do and it works… ok here is some more questions i have for the
bridgeboard….
1st. how do you get a BB to work with a hurricane 500 board in the 2000
with the BB in 020 mode works in 68000 mode but when i put it in 68020 it
says it can't find library.. well i guess the bb doesn't like 020
mode???…
2nd how can you get the mouse working with windows….. did CBM come out
with a driver ??

It sounds like you have an older version of the BB ROM. when you boot the
BB what version of the ROM does the sign on message give? The latest
version is 3.6.1 and it gets rid of the 'library not found' problems. What
version of Windows do you want to use? their driver will work with any
version of Windows other than 3.0 (the latest).
