I seem to recall that Amigaterm's manual was incorrect in the settings to use when downloading. You should be using 8 Data Bits, No Parity, and 1 Stop Bit, not what the manual said… –>Steve Bennett

Hello, William. Welcome to AmigaForum. My first suggestion is that you ignore the manual's instructions on settings and change to 8 bits, No parity, 1 stop bit. The manual is wrong when it tells you to use 7 E-1. That should let you do some downloading. I then suggest that the first thing you download is a better terminal program such as JRCOMM or ACCESS from Library 5 of AmigaUser. You can find them easily there, if you get to the Library 5! prompt and type: BRO KEY:JRCOMM or BRO KEY:ACCESS. If this does not get you going, or if you find that you have more questions, please ask. It only takes a little while to become a pro at this, but it is confusing at the start. Betty

Hello William, I see that others have already given you most of the necessary information that you'll need. I'll just add that CIS-B is the preferred protocol to use (and also the easiest), and that others have experienced trouble downloading when trying to download with a terminal emulation active. What this means is don't try to use a VT100 emulation when you're downloading. One more thing, you need to dial in to the system using the 8N1 serial port settings. You can't change it online.
