#Digi-View B&W Capture

I have been attempting to capture the best quality B&W picture that I
can from a videotape by using Digi-View Gold with 4.0 software. I have a
decent camcorder that, with enough attention, will produce quite a good
freeze frame. I have an A2000 with 3Meg and DV installed on the GVP Impact
2000/ ST-157.
I have been unable to get the camera "slow/color" mode to select
whenever I choose hi-res (640). It seems to select just fine without
hi-res (at 320). I saw nothing in the manual about slow scan not working
in hi-res, am I doing something wrong ??
Are there any other hints about how to make the best quality B&W picture
from a still VCR picture using Digi-View without a color splitter ??

Bill, I seem to recall that same thing about not being able to select
"slow-color" in hi-res. Maybe it just isn't an option?
Anyway, when you digitize a color picture with Digi-view, you will probably
see artifacts from the color subcarrier. This looks like a fine grid
texture laid over the picture. I use this old VCR color processor from
Radio Shack to kill the color before digitizing. If you're freeze-framing a
B&W picture you should be ok without using a color killer….
