kevin , i am thinking of buying a targa 32 its not a plus though… i
assume thats it not upgradable to a plus. i would like to know what modes
it runs at , if it runs at 512x486x32 then thats all im going to use…
since the targa 64+ max mode for 32 bit is 512×486 anyway for recordable
rez. the only other that i would be interested in would be the hi-rez mode
. what is the max for that?
also i contacted imageset in san fran. and am going to send a 20 meg 4k
targa file to them for color processing and print at 24 inch by 36 inch. i
was thinking of 3d studio to render the file at 4096x3706x24 but would like
to render at 32 bit , if i tell 3dstudio to use the 8 bit alpha in the
3ds.set file will it truly create a 32 bit targa file?
lastly , what exactly is iris graphics ? i talked to a company in new york
that said they are getting a machine that will take a targa file directly
and print a 24×36 inch print. is iris graphics the name of the machine or
the company?
oh… they want 800 for the targa 32. is that a good price?

The Targa 32 only supports resolutions from 512×400 through 512×482
(not 486), and is only 32-bit. If it's a 2-slot board, then it will also
support overscan (an option at that time). Input and output are RGB only
(no composite video or S-VHS). Other than programs that support a variety
of Targa boards, such as RIO, TOPAS & 3D Studio, the Targa 32 requires
software written for the board. For instance, a special version of the
TIPS paint package must be used (Targa 16 or Targa+ versions will not
work).
Imageset shouldn't care if your file is 24- or 32-bit, but putting Alpha on
will write out a 32-bit file.
Iris Graphics is the manufacturer of a large format ink-jet printer of high
quality, often used for Advertising proofs or small run posters.

thanks for the info, i think i will get another 64 instead how long is the
current offer on the tradein's going to go for? i'm pretty fed up with the
dva-4000 board and videologic in general. they never send any updates to
you or notices on any of there software. i just fould out that im 3
releases behide on the mic software. i asked them why they never let anyone
know… and they said you have to ask for it. so out goes the dva-4000 for
another targa 64+. unless someone here wants or can use the board for 1000
(cost 3000) for some multimedia stuff.

The Truevision Trade-in/Trade-up program ends January 31, 1991. $750
for that DVA board, or $1000 if you pop for the Targa 32 (so that would
save you $200, if you pay $800 for it). Hope you'll consider us when you
need that board. BTW, I know you use Digital Arts' animation package; are
you using DGS Paint also, on the Vista?

no i use photostyler and tips for image stuff. thinking of qfx hi-rez for
