Steve,
>>Have you ordered AnimaqPC w/ QuickPass?
Not yet.
>>Just for clarification, you have a Viper, a 422+ Diaquest, and Action
Animator… Right?
Yes, but not in the same machine. What I was relaying in my original
message was that we (Computer Services) have had a problem with
ANYTHING accessing addresses 3e8 and 2e8 in a "Viperized" machine, so
I would suspect the Viper.
The simplest trial would be to get you hands on an inexpensive VGA
card that uses either the Trident 8900 or Tseng ET4000 chipset (I say
these because they are pretty hardware friendly!), yank the Viper,
install one of these and see what happens. Do you have a friend at a
dealership that would load you one of these? You should be able to
"Scam" a new Trident 1Mb for less than $100.00. DO NOT use another
co-processing card, they can all present the same problems.
Or, you could always wait for Diaquest <BG>!
Chuck
When you are refering to a co-processor card, are you refering to one
that has a P9000 Chip, or is it any co-processor? Also, It seems to
me that the VGA board should also NOT be a VESA-Local bus card. We
have several Diamond VGA cards in various computers around the
office. I could steel one for an evening to test this theory. The
Beta SP deck is going to be busy until the 17th. I will wait to try
this theory out at that time. I'll keep you informed?
Steve,

ANY co-processing card requires some sort of "hook" (i.e. Merory address or
IRQ) into you computer to operate properly.

card.
Remember, VLB is just the bus specification, and does not dictate that the card
is a coprocessor. Granted, most VLB Cards are coprocessors.

Any Speedstars (Either Speedstars, SS Hi-Colors, or SS24s, but NOT the
Speedstar Pro)? These earlier Speedstars are ET4000 based frame buffers and
should work for the test.
Let me know when the BETA deck is back!!!!
