That part about it starting 3-5 minutes into a clip; After the video
starts to go bad (3-5 minutes), can you play back other clips for 3-5
minutes until they go bad? Or are all the clips after that bad, from
beginning to end? (I'm wondering here if the board or possibly the drive
is overheating)

thank u for your direct response, but we have two DC1-TV in two systems and we
have the same problem, but we will try to cool the board a better way now!
the scsi drives have their onwn case with a special cooling system! moreover we
have flickereffect also in the beginning of an video for more times.
mainthing after about 3 min.
did u use an dc1?
if it works correct, we have to find out which is our problem, but we thing
about the datatransfer under windows is a problem? what do u thing about?

Personally I have not used the DC1 yet. In my playing around with the
Fast Movie Machine I have not noticed this flicker effect that you are
experiencing. Now I know that there are folks using the DC1 succesfully
here on the forum and it has been quite highly rated so I would guess that
it is something in your environment.
You might strip your autoexec.bat and config.sys files to bare minimums as
well.

I've got an almost identical system to yours. I haven't had a need to
clip more than about 30 seconds. I will experiment and let you know what I
find out. Talk to you near or after XMas.
FYI I'm running a Pentium 90 with 16Mb memory, 512k cache, a Maxtor
540Mb hard drive and an older version of the Micropolis SCSI 1.7Gb hard drive
as my main storage device. I have one of the PCI SCSI 2 controllers built by
Adaptec, but i haven't put it in yet. I'm using a VESA SCSI 2 controller for
it. So this may be something to look at. Don't dump the Adaptec yet. Let me
see if I generate the same problems. . .

We got the similar equipments like you have: We bought AST PCs all with
Pentium/90, 512K cache, 32M DRAM, 1.7G Micropolis AV drive, ATI Mach-64 2M
display card, PCI Adaptec SCSI-II host adapter, and a miro DC1 capture board.
Our sales people use our own software and connect DC1 to camcoder/VCR/TV to
capture, edit, generate and play back clips to a 9-screen TV wall over and over
again in a recent trade show without any problem. We defrag the drive before
playing. We are using the newest boards that they just shipped last month.
Their earlier board/driver may have problems but we really don't know.
Have you upgrade the MS Video for Windows runtime to 1.1d? Rumor said this
version solve many problems like this.
