#Lost In Space
4 messages in this thread
Hi Mark. Tried to download the file THEROBOT.ZIP from the Rendering
Plant BBS but didnt have enough access time. Any way for you to send
it to me via Compuserve (collect of course)?? Would appreciate it.
Are you a member of any LIS fan club? If you are interested in the
doodads and geegaws that are available for lost in space (or star
trek, voyage to the bottom of the sea, land of the giants, etc) such
as photos, models, etc you can send for them through a number of
outfits. Want the address of one or two??
Noticed that you converted a number of Lightware files to 3DS. Take it
you do some of this stuff professionally. Also noticed that you
probably take sci-fi fairly seriously since most (all??) the files
were space related. Cool.
Anyhow, thanks for the info again. Also thanks in advance if you send
the file through compuserve.
Well, I convert lots of files from Imagine and Litewave, wavefront,
and others for Jim at the Rendering Plant. I spend a lot of time
converting and cleaning them up, like adding lights, better textures,
trying to get the faces all facing the right direction (ha!), and
sometimes different atmospheres like underwater etc…, and Jim takes
them and renders the mesh to a pic, adds the colors in 3ds to the
mesh, and attempts clean up too (he's best with working with the
pesky face normals! I give up too easily!!).
It's a lot of work, but it makes for a better quality selection. I
put it to the test that if I wouldn't want it or use it for
something, then I don't waste time converting it.
Among those objects that you guys have grabbed from the Syndesis 3D-ROMs, would
you consider sending us a backup tape of the improved models, so we can include
them on future discs?
You'd have to discuss that with Jim, because he has the final, polished
versions. I still have the converted, so-so models. Jim also adds a final
rendered still image of each model so you can easily see what it looks like.
