#Mirrors

Hello All…
Can someone help me create a mirror? I don't have a problem creating flat
auto reflection maps…but I can find a suitable "texture" or color for a
mirror (the type in ones' bathroom, for ex.). Silver doesn't cut it, and I
can't create a metallic, chromey look on a flat surface to use for an auto
reflect map material. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Kev.

Try the metal shader with Kd = RGB 0 to128, and Ka = RGB 0.

Try black ambient & diffuse with a white specular (the specular color mixes
with the reflection). Now adjust the shine as you wish (100% Shininess &
Shininess Strength would be a perfect mirror). The Reflection Blur slider
will influence the blur of the refelction, and a perfect mirror would be 0
or 1 (no parameter adjustments for reflection maps). The Reflection Map
slider throttles the percentage of the reflection in a manner similar to
adjusting a white specular's luminance (so 100% would be a full reflection).

p.s. Once you have it assigned to a flat plane, and its working to your
satisfaction, save that object out as its own 3DS file – you now have a
mirror you can merge at any time.
