Even when using the 1Meg chip set, an Amiga can only hold about 8 full frames when doing page-flipping. Obviously, if you have lots of Fast RAM the CPU can transfer additional frames into Chip RAM as the old ones are used up, extending your animation. My question is: what kind of frame rate can I expect when a 68000 is used? A 68020? What about programs that read directly from hard disk? Again, I'm not talking about compressed animations, but full-page movement. Thanks people! My first of many messages in the months and years to come! Blaq!

Cel Animator from MicroIllusions (my company) is one of the few "pageflippers" that do not compress animations, and thus achieve a fast frame rate. The max rate depends on the resolution, size (overscan) and number of colors. At worst, you should be able to get 7.5 frames per second locked to video, or about 9 fps free-running. —Mike/MicroIllusions
