Howard, One of the six is a standard schnauzer, the others are miniatures.
Even the little ones can do some definite wear. I am thinking of
converting over to the new turf type tall fescues to see how they hold up.
(I teach turf management here at OSU/ATI,this might be something to try for
passing on to my students and others.) Bob
Before you decide on what kind on grasses you are planning to use, you
should consider the other uses for the area. Don't forget that the Tall
Fescue that you are considering is not only sturdy, but also can be quite
coarse!
John, Thanks for your response. I am aware of the coarseness of tall
fescue. There are some new "turf type" tall fescues that have a texture
closer to bluegrass, even though they must be still planted in a monostand.
I should have qualified myself in my previous message. I am one of the
turf instructors here at the Ohio State Univ. Ag Tech Institute. However,
if you look at my lawn, you would never guess I teach turf management.
After working with it during the day, I would rather putter in my roses and
perennial beds that put any time ino the lawn.
