I guess I have a unique situation. I want to use aerial photographs
as basemaps for heads-up digitizing and plotting in Autocad. I've
tested CAD-Overlay GSX and looked at GTX RasterCad but got no
satisfaction.
Specifically, this is what I need.
I. Import tiff images w/o converting to vector.
A. Scale images proportionately to match vector
reference points.
B. Digitize vectors over the image.
C. Adjust the image brightness and contrast.
D. Treat the image as a 3dface in model space.
Essentially, map a tiff image onto a 3dface so
that any changes to the scale or rotation of the
3dface would also change the image equally.
E. Use paperspace viewports to crop the image and
zoom the viewport to a scale without changing
the image size.
II. Plot, from Paperspace, the image and vector drawing
together to the HP650c Designjet.
A. Allow control of pen weight and plotted color by
vector entity color.

this sounds like an AutoCad question and it will be answered

James – you'll have more success with this message if you post it in

James, what it sounds like you are talking about is going to require
a combination of solutions. I am working on raster vector
combinations in a very high precision arena. You are going to need
to use 3D Studio with AutoCAD for the mapping issues and probably do
a postscript file to get your plotting output with bitmapped images.
Plotters generally can't mix raster and vector files. I can think of
various solutions for what your getting at but I'm not aware of any
solutions where you can plot bitmapped 3d Faces in from anywhere in
AutoCAD. You might want to explore Accuvision or Accurender but I
think the results are going to be raster images not AutoCAD drawing
files which is all that you can plot from paper space.
