#flicker

I am having a problem with transparent objects flickering in a project that I
am working on. I have rendered this project before with no problems. I have
not changed the field order since the first time that I rendered this project.
I thought that it might be the field order, but only the transparent materials
flicker (strobe). Does any one have any ideas?
Thanks

Scott,
<< flickering transparent objects..>>
minimize your scene, explain what's happening,
save it as a project, zip it up and email it
to me.

Jonas,
I went back and rendered the project with only 2 machines and one of
them renders the transparent materials dimmer than the other, like
the Gamma settings were different. I have the display set to null in
the 3DSNET.SET file. I haven't changed any of my configuration since
successfully rendering projects with transparent materials. I also
rendered several frames from another project with trans. materials,
with the same strobing results. This problem doesn't seem to be a
problem with the project, but with the configuration of my network
rendering systems.
Thanks,

Have you verified that your GAMMA-CORRECT,
USE-TGA-GAMMA, FILE-OUTPUT-GAMMA, are
identical in all of the slaves 3ds.set files?

Jonas,
The GAMMA-CORRECT, USE-TGA-GAMMA and FILE-OUTPUT-GAMMA parameters are
controlled by the master or owner of a rendering job, if I am not mistaken. I
reinstalled 3DS3 on the suspect rendering slave and this seems to have resolved
my problem. I wonder if turning the slave off without exiting 3DS could
corrupt any of the files.

Scott:
You need to give more information re: the render, did you use any morph
material, did you render this prj. on several computers (network rendering),
did you change the binary setup of the transparent material since last render
especially when you morph material.

Yishai,
There are morphed material in the scene. The material that is
strobing is not morphed, it remains the same the whole time. I
haven't changed the transparent materials since the last time I
rendered the scene. I am rendering across a network on several
machines. It seems that the strobing is occuring when one machine
renders the transparent objects with a different gamma setting that
other machines. I went back and rendered the project with only 2
machines and one of them renders the transparent materials dimmer
than the other. I have the display set to null in the 3DSNET.SET
file. I haven't changed any of my configuration since successfully

Scott:
It is very important when you render a file across the network to
render to null as far as I know all the rendering parameter are being
determined by the computer that is launching the render job. or another
possibility is if you are using Beta Ver. of 3DS Ver. 3 on one of the
computers that is rendering, I have seen this problem happening.
