Anyone up to writing a simple IXP that would allow me to take a
finished frame and adjust the R,G&B levels? I would define it so that
there was a slider for each of R,G&B, where the left side (0) meant
remove the R,G or B component of each pixel and the right side (100%)
meant leave that value along. For example, if I set the sliders (or
input boxes) to 10,40 and 100, it would take each pixel of the
current image (whatever had been done in Video Post up to that point)
and leave only 10% of the red, 40% of the green and leave all of the
blue for each pixel. This should be a trivial task for someone with
the compiler. I can pay a couple hundred bucks for it, but it is so
simple that perhaps it would be best as a freeware or shareware
utility. There isn't much value in it for commercial applications.

Thanks for the post. I expect many programmers to purchase the IPAS3
tool kit. Having requests for custom routines visible is good.

I just uploaded an IXP to do that. It took me a good 10 minutes to write, so
don't get spoiled. It has three sliders (for each color component). The values
are from 0 to 255. Leave it a 255 and it won't change anything. Move to 128 and
all values above that will be cropped down to 128. The routine has Alpha
support so you can specify "areas" to apply if that makes any sense (it was
there already).
I called CROP_I.IXP (uploaded as CROP.ZIP) and it should be available along
with the Yost Chowder (I will pay for that) later today or tomorrow morning.

Color correcting IPAS sounds useful. For now, can you fake it with RGB Tint in
the materials editor? It will let you adjust each RBG component indpendently,
not as a percentage, but as a new color. This way, you can turn red into green,
for example, without changing pure blue pixels.
The problem is, the RGB Tint works only with materials, not finished bitmap
files in VP. If your bitmaps are not rendered to fields, you can use the old
trick:
-make a 100% texture map material out of the existing bitmap(s)
-adjust the RBG Tint in Mapping Parameters (the "S" button)
-apply the material to a flat, rectangular object
-fit the mapping icon to the bitmap & apply to the object
-adjust an ortho viewport so the flat object fills the frame
-render
(Sorry if listing these steps insults your level of expertise, but someone else
may be interested. <g>) My render-pig just got to a good stopping point so I
tried this just now and it seens to work OK. Since a 1-to-1 pixel
correspondence is not possible with this method, some detail will be lost, but
hey!, everything's relative, right?

Gus already wrote an IPAS routine. I like your idea though. But I need it to
apply to finished bitmaps, including backgrounds. My render-PIG (read 2 new
60MHz Pentuims) have been running all weekend. I know the feeling of relief
when they are done.
