I'm sorry to hear of your problems with ordering by mail from Amiga
companies, but would like to assure you that not all companies treat their
customers so poorly. I ship out thousands of pacels a year and almost all
of them go out within a day or two of receipt — no holding checks until
they clear or any of that nonsense. My company is also apparently one of
the few who offer support and updates to overseas customers — and I've
received letters saying that it was the first time they had ever been
offered upgrades!
Bill, you are an exemplary example of integrity and good service. The
CrossDos people even hold you up as an example of what software designers
should aspire to!
That being said, it's a little easier for you to manage inventory and cash
flow than for high-priced hardware manufacturers. I'm not letting anybody
off the hook here – just pointing out that different issues affect each
type of business. — Art
Yes, the stakes are higher for hardware manufacturers, although it just
means that you need more capital to run a hardware manufacturing
operation. However, a company contemplating entering this business should
not do so if it doesn't have the resources to treat its customers
properly.
Doing otherwise just hurts the entire marketplace.
Bill I have been very happy with your products and support. It just that
the hardware companies are on the edge capital wise. But if they are not
going to give me a refund, (i.e. A-squared), Wendy shouldn't promise to
send me a refund or say that it has been sent. This dishonisty doesn't do
the company and good and seems that it can decide the fate of the company.
Cltd has a very bad record of customer support and that is really a shame
because their SCSI interfaces are great products.
I think that by the time a company has to be dishonest to its customers,
its fate has already been decided.
This is true. There is no excuse for a company to be rude and dishonest to
its own customers, and any company that does so deserves whatever fate it
gets.
