#State Animation
3 messages in this thread
Help! I have recently purchased Imagine 3.0 and am trying to get the hang of
states animation. Heres what I'm doing…..
I am loading a cube object into the detail editor. Next I am using the
attributes requester to assign a texture to the cube which I O.K. I then go to
the states menu and create a state called ONE with Shape and Properties
selected. I then return to the attributes requester, select my texture, click
on info and enter one in the lockstate box and click o.k. on the way out. Next
I rotate the cube 45 degrees . I then go back to the states menu, choose
create, and enter TWO for the name with Shape and Properties selected again.
When I go to the states animation menu and make an animation nothing happens.
The cube looks the same for the whole 15 frames (default). NO ROTATION! What am
I doing wrong?
Jim,
Rotating an object as you want is not something to be done through states.
This is done in the Action & Stage editors. States are used for somewhat
different functions. With states, you can create a default state for the shape
of the cube, then deform it and create a deformed state or several states. If
you have a hierarchically grouped object, you can save in states the alignment
or positions of grouped children in states by clicking on the GROUP box when
creating the state.
For now, if all you want to do is make your cube rotate, in the Action editor,
add the ROTATE2.IFX special effect to the cube object's FX1 timeline, and enter
the desired values in the pop-up box. You can alternately do this manually
without the use of the effect, but it would require you to set up 3 key-frames.
Ultimately the rotate2.ifx is the easiest way to accomplish the rotation.
If you care to discuss further the idea of states, or any other techniques or
how-to's, come on over to the Graphics User Group A forum (GO GUGRPA) and ask
away in the Imagine section.
