Camera-Path
4 messages in this thread
Sometimes it is needed to create a camera-path with the camera looking in the
same direction the camera moves.
By example, when a walk through a house has to be made.
What's the easiest way to create such a camera-path with the target-path?

Hartmut,
Do the following:create the path that the camera needs to go in direction. If
you are done with that save the cho file. Then remove everything excluding the
paths that are supposed to be used. Save this file under a different name and
append the original animation into direction using the "append…" comand under
the "File" menu. You just duplicated the camera path. Now all you need to do is
make one of the paths a target and make sure that the Ease of the camera-path
start a little later than the target-path.
It is a little tricky to actually get the timing yust right, but this trick
worked very good on me a couple of times (make sure, that the camera-path
starts later and ends earlier though, otherwise the target is passed by the
camera and all of a sudden the camera turnes around 180 degrees)
Hope that helps,
Peter
PS: Where are you from, I am still looking for german A:M users, please drop me
a line.
Thanks for this helping tips …
I am from Wuppertal (near Dusseldorf) and using AM for 3 month or so.
I have had Strata Studio Pro PC, but after i have got the update, i
asked kodiak if i can get AM and they agreed. So AM was not that expensive. In
AM i could create my first animations after some hours, in StudioPro PC the
Surface was very bad, the update does not run at all.
Now i am creating an animation of a robot playing an ovation guitar. The guitar
looks very well, the robot's hands look not so good, and after all, its very
hard to make the actions because there are to many objects which can be handled
accidentaly.
The second thing is the computation-time. I have a 486DX50, and the animation
will be about 3.5 min. Perhaps its usefull to use parts more than once to
reduce the rendering-time.
What are you doing with AM? Have you seen my robot-biker in the file-library?
Done after one month AM-using. -_)

Hartmut,
Place both the camera and the camera target on the same path. Next change the
target channel so that the target is about a frame ahead of the camera itself.
I did this myself so that I could follow a spaceship through an asteriod field.
I had the spaceship, the camera, and the camera target all on the same path. I
just set (using the channels) a five frame intervel between the ship and the
target and the target and the camera. VERY COOL!
