You might not remember me but you and I conversed back in early December about Autodesk Animator Pro. You said that its list price was $595. I have not been able to find it close to this price and was wondering if you could direct me to the vendor that quoted this price. Also, currently I have a 486DX 40mhz PC, SVGA (1 meg on board), 16 meg of ram and a 270 meg and 1.083 meg drive. Will this be adeguate to develop 2D animation (ie. character animation) at 12-24 frames per second? Thanx for your time, Paul G. Frey, Jr. Our World Comics

The number to call for Animator Pro dealers in your area is 800/964-6432. If they have trouble with this price, they might benefit from reading the press release about Animator Studio which we have posted here. Download it and have it available for them, just in case! (See info below.) Your description of the development environment sounds fine. There are variables, of course. The main one relates to the resolution of the animations you're planning to create. 640×480 animations may have problems playing on various machines if you have a lot of movement from one frame to the next. An example: an architectural walk-through would have nearly every pixel in the screen changing from one frame to the next. In contrast, character animation can often keep a static background while the characters do the moving.
