I just starting to research ISDN and have basic questions. I know that the
speed of these types of connections are significantly quicker than a typical
modem connection, but are ISDN connections like a remote control connection
like PCAnywhere or a remote node. If so, which is better?
Where can I get information on the type hardware and are there any
recomendations on this hardware.
Finally I have heard so many horror stories in trying to set up an ISDN
connection, the two locations I would like to set up are in different phone
company areas one Pacific Bell, who I've heard is on the for front of the ISDN
connections, and GTE who isn't. Do I have an impossible situation?
ISDN can be both, depending on your needs. Of course it is even faster to
remote-control the other side but more expensive. and the speed is quite o.k.
if set it up correctly: have all programs local and only pick up data. Then –
depending on the system – you may feel nearly like on an ethernet … But if
you e.g. load the login command or syscon from the network you have initiates
your coffee-break.
