Dean, I took special note of your ownership of the Marvel II because both the
Matrox spec sheet and a New Media mag mention of the board were very
intriguing. So I'm seriously looking at this board. I've got a couple of
questions which I'd appreciate your feedback on:
Sound: Does the board replace or augment an existing
soundboard? Can it play MIDI files as well as WAVs? Does it
have wavetable synthesis?
Capture: Does a Hi-8 camcorder plug into the DB-9
connector?
Vendor: If you got the board by mail order, would you mind
telling where?

Gerard, I am not a very big fan of the board, (I am sending mine back) but I
will do my best to answer your questions.

Be aware that the sound capacity of the Marvel board for playback only. There
is no recording ability at all. The sound output is FM synth, not wavetable.
I do not believe that it can play back midi files although I have not tried to
do so.

Sure, if you use the proper input cable, you can interface video signals via
Composite, SVHS & RGB signal types. The RGB mode requires that you order the
RGB interface option though.

I cannot remember exactly, if you are still interested, I will look it up
tomorrow and let you know. Otherwise, I know that you can call Matrox Video
Products division and they can let you know of a dealer in your area.
