A2090 DiskPerf

Well here is some diskperf data on an A2090 HD controller with a 40Mb ST
506 drive ( NEC 5146 ). This was done on the first 10Mb partition of the
disk, these are times reflecting when the partition was empty.
File create/delete: create 8 files/sec, delete 27 files/sec
Directory scan: 42 entries/sec
Seek/read test: 67 seek/reads per second
r/w speed: buf 512 bytes, rd 34952 byte/sec, wr 13724 byte/sec
r/w speed: buf 4096 bytes, rd 45990 byte/sec, wr 20641 byte/sec
r/w speed: buf 8192 bytes, rd 47662 byte/sec, wr 21140 byte/sec
r/w speed: buf 32768 bytes, rd 48545 byte/sec, wr 21845 byte/sec
Seems like pretty good performance when compared to other drives

When the new file system comes out you can expect the A2090 to achieve
approximately 90,000 bytes per second or higher in the 32768 byte read
test. The 512 byte read test (the one that really counts) will improve
by about double to ap- proximately 70,000 bytes per second.
That's ok I suppose. But (evil grin) the SDP will be doing double or
triple the above improved numbers even before we hit stage 3 of our
firmware. We fully expect a diskperf re- sult to hit 400,000 bytes per
second by the time we're fin- ished with SDP firmware.
However, the SDP will cost more than the A2090 to be fair.
