Has anyone out there experienced problems using Fontographer-created fonts
with Quark XPress 2.12? I had no problems with version 2.11, but the
newest release does strange things with character widths – as you type
characters it gradually clips the displayed characters off on the right
side. This totally destroys any center alignment, and even allows
characters to be printed outside the page margin. Repeated calls to Quark
Tech Support have been fruitless – the only advice they can give is to
re-save the fonts with the latest version of Fontographer, which I have
done. They promised to refer the problem to their R&D people, but so far no
response. Hope someone can help. Thanks!

Do these Fontographer fonts have more than a couple of hundred kern pairs
in them, by any chance? If so, I highly recommend you give Quark one more
call. You may get the satisfaction you require (as of today or yesterday).
If you don't "get no satisfaction" leave me a message here in the DTP
Forum.

Any word yet on the kerning pair problem in Quark 2.12? I've still got 2.11
installed at work because I need the pair support, but I'm really getting
used to the Xtras that I use at home (which don't work in 2.12).

That's exactly what I was hinting at, Jon. Give Quark tech support a call
if you've been unable to use XPress 2.12 for any reason. Relief is
available!

Oops…the QuarkXTras package works with QuarkXPress 2.12.

I've been using a takeoff on a Palatino with fractions and altered
characters created with current fontographer, and in Quark 2.12…with no
problem so far (knock on wood), BUT in one instance, the em dash completely
disappeared from the font and I had to recreate it (only in the screen
font). I did recieve a Fontographer upgrade earlier this week, you might
try that (i believe its a freebie upgrade). Margot.
If you would like, you can send me a copy of the font. Usually, before we
can fix a problem, we have to duplicate it in-house.
