#Help Needed – PostScript

Our company just bought a QMS ColorScript PostScript printer. We used to
send escape codes to our old color printer through BASIC routines. I need
to translate some of those into PostScript language. I'm looking for
references (a book, utility programs, etc.) that will make my life easier
when I go to try to make this thing color, shade and the rest. Any
suggestions are more than welcome.

PostScript is much more involved than sending sequences of escape codes.
There are several books on PostScript programming available, including a
series of technical books. For actual PS programming, check with folks on
the Adobe forum.
Depending on what you're doing, you'll probably find software that can do
what you want more easily than writing routines. If you tell us the kind of
effects you're trying to create, we might be able to suggest some software
that will do what you want.
Thanks for your response. There are a couple things I'd like to do with
this new color printer. First, I need to duplicate the effects of what we
were using our old printer for: printing out spreadsheets with lines of
data being different colors depending on the value of one field (i.e. if
revenue is > $500,000 then print that line in blue, etc.). Second, I'd
like to create a color logo that could be put into the corner of reports
and other output. We already use Harvard G for overheads etc. – the stuff
looks great. I'll pick up a book to make sure I'm kept busy for the next
year but if you know of any shareware or freeware that you could
suggest….. thanks. I'll also check out Adobe's forum!
Have you decided in favor of PostScript just for the applications you
mentioned, or do you have other uses in mind? If no other uses, have you
considered the Ink Jet?
