The whole idea of the "placer" (perhaps spacer files is the correct term) files to for them to reside where ever the drawing came from, be it net or local. You can get around this and relocate the files locally using the prototype drawing option. For example, start a new…
Thanx for the info. The common thread between these problems seems to be AutoCAD R11386c2, MS-DOS 5.0 and ATI VGA Wonder cards. Sounds like it may be a problem with the bios memory location or something. I'll look into these problems further and let you guys know what I find.…

From: Mike Sisk [Adesk] Autodesk AutoCAD Forum · AutoCAD February 24, 1992 12:57 PM
A number of people in the development staff here at Autodesk are using Stacker and have reported that it works fine. Best thing since sliced bread if I rember the exact quote correctly…. -Mike
#LISP Message #34439
From: DANIEL S. GUNLOCK Autodesk AutoCAD Forum · AutoLISP/ADS February 24, 1992 12:46 PM
Mike I downloaded XLISP from the AIEXPERT forum. It looks a little scarey, I don't see a whole lotta similarity between it and AutoLISP. I could not find GET functions, or the like either. Have you seen XLISP? And if so, is MuLISP more similar to AutoLISP than XLISP? Thanks…

I have an AutoCAD operator whoa has been experiencing problems on his wo workstation running AutoCAD r11 c2. When inserting blocks or blocks with attributes the block appears to be "ghosted" on the screen and doesn't appear until he does a regen/redraw. Also the attributes do not appear until the…

Brian: As David Byrnes mentions, fling me any questions you might have. I reviewed several film recorders in the September '91 issue of CADalyst. I also reviewed several others a couple of years before that. Personally, I've got a Lasergraphics LFR Plus sitting here and have managed to record just…

#34256 RapidCAD Message #34431
Jake: I got to play with a RapidCAD just before it was shipped. It's a two chip set. One chip goes into the 386 socket; the other replaces the math-copro and handles exceptions that must go out across the bus. The major speed improvement is due to the integration of…

Brian, You should only need to go through 1 translation to get to Targa format (which would likely be best for .RND files), using Hijaak. Similarly, you can use Hijaak to convert HPGL or DXF. In either instance, an Agfa Matrix film recorder is suitable, as is the Lasergraphics recorders.…

Evan, Thanks for the info. The number for Cyco was listed as 800-234-226). I'm assuming that was to be a 0. Anyway that is what I'll try.
Charles – AutoCAD initializes the COM port when it plots, then re-initializes it when it returns to the Drawing Editor — allowing you to use the same port for plotter and digitizer. The CalComp driver uses 9600, E,7,1 and XON/XOFF handshaking. If you want to use other parameters for the…

#34416 #Linked Objects Message #34417
[Continued] Perhaps I'm just dreaming, but I would like to see a system as powerful as AutoCAD evolve into a more interactive design tool, rather than primarily mimicing traditional drawing practices. There may be people already developing systems like this, although I haven't seen anything like it for architects. I…

From: Larry Beck [Windows TM] Autodesk AutoCAD Forum · AutoCAD February 24, 1992 10:36 AM
Dave: Problem with that is you limit your memory to being used as EXPanded, whereas lots of applications want to see EXTended. The best solution, naturally, is to use QEMM, but short of that *I* recommend leaving out EMM386 entirely. Larry
