So it would be a temp anim only for further editing, not for play back? -David
Hi Lily, Well right now, there is NOTHING!!! It just seemed that there were some people interested in coding demos who couldn't get into the "Official" team, so I thought –why put all of this talent to waste. Due to my inherent hardware limitations (a '286/87 12 MHz) don't expect…
I don't see a problem with uploading the native Imagine objects into the Imagine UG, and uploading DXF converts to the UG here. The native Imagine objects are much smaller than DXF, so the duplicated space will not be as great. Also, native Imagine objects will retain any object hierarchies…
Jim, 3-D Studio is considered by many to be the best, but not everyone. The best thing to do is to decide what you need your software to be able to do for you, and then do some research. One of the advantages to 3-D Studio is its expandability. If…
David, I'll pass word along about Premiere. We're testing the Intel Smart Video Recorder and the ATI VideoIT packages, and finding strengths and faults in each. Another program can't hurt.
Snicker. If you do have large uploads, give us fair warning to make sure we have the space.
Actually .. a one time upload would probably be more economical; save those extra pennies for Upgrades ! Seriously though, I don't see anything wrong with loading models here and advertising them abroad.

I am having a problem getting all of an image to appear in Paintbrush v3.1. I piece together a picture in MS Publisher 2.0a, then link it together, then copy it to the clipboard, then switch to Paintbrush, then paste it on the paintbrush screen. What I see is what…
Matt, I got Adobe Premiere which can play QT movies. Never tired the player only that is online on CIS somewhere. Premiere is a great tool and worth the money. I got it bundled with a video capture card. -David
Alex, as far as I know Alias 6 will be out in Jannuary. I agree with you it is probably the best high end package. But then I haven't used all of them only Alias, so I'm biased. -David
I have to admit that I didn't have the time to check it out so far. Have you? -David
I could upload ~5 mb per hour. That would be ~120mb a day. hehehe -David
>> If you have objects to contribute I'd love to see them there. That's the basic problem. Usually they don't want the same file twice in two fora. Now should I put it here or in the UG where only Imagine users will be able to use them (since they…
Speaking on behalf of my fellow Demo Team members, we are not threatened by a little competition. In fact, we would REALLY like to make something good enough to go into international competition. This IS the main reason for the secret library. So our really great ideas can stay under…
>>Are you using Alias now? Do you know anyone in NYC area doing human facial >>and hand modeling and animation? Unfortunately, no on both accounts, however, I know all this because I read like crazy and it's the only way to really know what is going on in this industry…
Chad Once again, do you have any telephone numbers for the products you mentioned here for the PC. I'd be really interested. Where do you get all this information from? Thanks Jim
Chad Pardon me for jumping in here, but do you have any names, addresses or telephone numbers for the animation packages you have mentioned? Do you really think that Lightwave will be better than 3DS? Is that what you recommend for some to produce quality animations at home on a…
Mike Macromind is basically a multimedia program. From all accounts I don't think that anyone can look you straight in the face and tell you it is easy to use. Apparently the learning curve is horribly long. What platform do you want to use it on? Is it for business?…
#PC Animation

Does anyone know of a better Animation program for the PC than 3D Studio? Is it considered the best? Thank you, Jim
Philip I have a friend who works at Industrial Light & Magic he is their senior animator and he told me this: They use Alias for modelling, apparently they have the very best modelling capabilities around. For movement and animations they use SoftImage it doesn't get any better for SoftImage…
Animation
Message #326
Can anyone suggest an animation program in the $3000.00 range for the Mac or PowerPC that they feel is the best. Thank you. Jim
Hi Brian, That's the reason why I'm so happy beeing a member of the Demo-Team… Here I can upload my sources and I know who's able to download it. Regards, Nils By the way, I'm very busy finishing my composing-software.. At the moment I'm writing music-code, no special vga-fx…
Thanks Alex. Unfortunately it looks like I'm going to spend 50k+. Are you using Alias now? Do you know anyone in NYC area doing human facial and hand modeling and animation? I am focusing on facial gestures and finger movements, and Flock of Birds probably probably won't work for this.…
Andrey, The Cobra 275 is a Windows NT based desktop system. It is powered by a DEC 64-bit Alpha processor running at 275 Mhz. Chad Liddell PCAD*

PMJI, but what is Cobra 275 computer? Andrey
Jim, The actual version should be out pretty soon, they were saying before Christmas. I'm waiting for it to come out.
> Well, I haven't read this article, but I'll look it up if October is still at the store. How about a quick summary? You can get the whole article in Ziffnet, GO ZIFF. Article A16247000. Theres normally a surcharge for the forum, but it looks like this month has…
Jim, I tried the Warp I beta, and liked it. I was never able to even install Warp II successfully. Maybe the final release will work better. –dkm
Texture Mapping
Message #316
I wrote these procedures for Texture Mapping. They have not been tested yet, but I going to make a demo when I find the time These Fucntions not included do the following: Dif(A,B) returns the result of subtract the smaller of the two from the larger. Small(A,B) returns the smaller…

My per-hour consulting/contracting rates are typically $85/hr. Rendering time on my Pentium machine is $8.00 per hour. I charge my consulting rate for active hands on work (modeling, composition, etc.) and rendering rate for the computer time. Depending on the complexity of the logo, I would guess no more than…
Lily, We (who ever we end up being) would make our finished code public, but I would think that partial code would just clutter things up and I wouldn't want people to DL code that doesn't work. It just seemed that there are a lot of us who want to…
You are right, we need a cool name. Hey lets have a name the demo team competition. Winner gets a free copy of our first demo.
Has Anyone tried Warp yet? I keep hearing that its good. I have been thinking about going out and buying it, but I wan't to hear some more opinions first.
SGI's are not hardware compatible with PC's. However, the Indy can emulate Windows. If you are looking at that level of power you should consider looking into NT systems. The Cobra 275 is an awesome computer. You can pick one up fully loaded, including Real 3D and a morphing program,…
Hi Geoffrey, I'll ask around and see if you guys can use this library to trade/exchange code in. I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed! *Lily* Graphics Forums staff
> Pretty good. But isn't that YOUR name? What is your name? I think "The Demo Team" is boring, too. Thanks. Well…we (The Demo Team) read this section. Although we don't reveal our secret projects (until we get them to some stage of completion) you are welcome to talk about…
Hi Fred, Like you, I upload things that I spend many hours working on. Usually I put a notice in the description that gives permission for the piece to be used (mostly clipart). If a person lets it eat at them that someone is using/stealing their work, then they shouldn't…
Lee- OS/2 is the best operating system you say?? Right on, brother!! I agree….. Brian Weiss [Demo Team]
Jeff- Sorry for butting in but I think you've got something going here. I'm sure you could pull something off….just get some artists and some musicians plus your code and you've got yourself a pretty good team. Just my $.02 worth!
Well, I guess we really don't have a name of the group or the demo right about now. Thanks for your concern because it's nice to know what other people think are neat and "powerful" names. If you ask me, I like "Silence" or something like that. We have a…
>>What would 32bit anims be good for?
> I hate computer-kids who download great sources and replaces the 'written-by' or 'copyright by' – statement. You let kids limit the ultimate usefullness of your code? Why spend months on it then? I can understand the practice on local BBS's, but here on CIS the good apples outweigh the…
Well, your question is can anyone put in artwork or code? The answer is no. We have special members in our team. If you think that your work is worth being looked at, I'm sure someone would like to see it. We've just recruited a few more people so I'm…

David, It's my hopes that we can bring on added HoF members to handle animations, yes.

Thanks, Matt! If you read my subsequent messages and exchanges with others, you know how the problem extends beyond just the apple implementation. If you find anything out, I'd be grateful to hear it. Tim Hitchings actually *wrote* eview, so he's *got* to be an expert. As you read, probably,…
Thanks for the response, What I have is an application that I want to "spruce" up with a nice little introduction. Thus I want to be able to call it from my application (Call an exe file perhaps) and let it fly. The AVI file format sounds interesting (since it…
