From: David Ramsey Mac Developers Forum · Library Questions March 16, 1994 12:18 AM
Andrew, Are you asking for the headers to the Mac toolbox routines? We don't have any of those here; they're all part of some commercial language package.

Installer Utility Message #163855
From: Mark Mathias Mac Developers Forum · Library Questions March 14, 1994 9:28 AM
Hello everyone, I am looking for information regarding Apple's Installer program, as well as the scripting language to create installation scripts. I understand that there is a licensing fee for the Installer program. What are the particulars regarding this (e.g. how much is it, who do I pay, etc.) Also,…

LaserWriter Message #163811
Greetings from Dublin Can anyone help, please I have a LaserWriter NT which is showing a figure of 21,000 copies. Yesterday I replaced the logic board with that of a second-handNTX (quite a bit faster) but the start-up page now shows 100,100 copies. Is there a way I can change…

#163674 file types DA or ref? Message #163753
Nope, I've not read the msg to which you refer. I'll take a gander in a moment. For the nonce, I've decided to create a database of file types and creator types from FileSaver, Norton Disk Editor, and Hax. It will by no means be definitive, but will do what…

#163663 QuickTime files Message #163743
Jason, Thanks for the information. I installed the files manually using expand, and everything is running smoothly now. It seems that QTW is using Microsoft's setup utility to perform the installation, and I have never had trouble installing files from the hard disk before, so I didn't think to try…
Dear Bill, This is Edward Fischer again. If you already got one message from me – skip this one. I don't really know what I'm doing yet, so I don't know if I actually sent the first message or not!!!! I'm trying to download SYSTEM 6.0.5 so I can start…

If you ever find the definitive type/creator list, I'd love to see it, too. Did you see message 163085, too?
#163642- QuickTime files Message #163663
You can't install the QTW files from a hard drive: they have to be on two floppies for its installer to work right. Put the _contents_ of the DISK1 directory on one floppy, and the contents of DISK2 on the other: if the DISK1/2 directories exist on the floppies, things…
file types DA or ref? Message #163429
I'm looking for something that may well not exist outside Apple's registry: a relatively definitive, if not exactly exhaustive, listing of file types and creator types (emphasis on the former). Mostly so I can use Hax and Norton Disk Editor to change things such as graphics grabbed by CIM to…
#142718 LaserWriter 8.0 Message #142898
From: Matt Deatherage Mac Developers Forum · Library Questions October 6, 1993 10:19 PM
Apple licensed the software from a third-party, which didn't _tell_ Apple it would expire on October 1st. That's why. –Matt Read action !

From: bob korb Mac Developers Forum · Library Questions October 6, 1993 10:29 AM
I'd have thought you had to go a bit out of your way to date a file to expire, but I know Apple's installer stuff is pretty arcane. Read action !
#142718 #LaserWriter 8.0 Message #142780

Bob, I think the most likely explanation of the LW 8.0 snafu is that it was a mistake. Read action !
#142643 #LaserWriter 8.0 Message #142718

Can we fathom why Apple did this? Perhaps they knew an 8.1 was going to be called for, real soon…? Truly amazing. Read action !

Su., Apple apparently released the LW 8.0 installer with a timed decompressor that quit working on the first of this month. We've removed it from the libraries and are awaiting 8.1…sorry for the trouble! Read action !
#142582 LaserWriter 8.0 Message #142623
From: Lofty Becker Mac Developers Forum · Library Questions October 4, 1993 8:58 PM
We pulled it because the copy (which we got from Apple) would no longer install properly (some of the software in it had an expiration date). LaserWriter 8.1's been released, and we hope to have that shortly. -Lofty Read action !

#54185- MacBinary Spec? Message #54208
John, Unless you find someone who knows where the Macbinary II file is, you're going to have to check the Macintosh File Finder using the keyword "Macbinary". My recollection is that the original spec. file and the MB II file are not in the same library, but it's been so…
