Peter, >> THERE IS however a Freely Distributeable prg from Autodesk >> to convert to/from DXF to/from 3D Studio. That information was worth a whole month on CI$!! 🙂 You don't have the name of the file? Never mind, I'll scan the Lib in ASOFT right now… -David

Peter, what is Imagemaster? Is it a morphing program, too? Remember, I only have a PC. TIA -David
Hi, I'm looking for a tool, that converts 3DS files to .dxf files. Is there any in the Libs here? TIA -David

Ben, Now you convinced me! I must have this program! I'll check if I find a dealer here in Germany first. thanks -David

Peter, I'm a "fiend", too I have to admit 🙂 If you have this converter you could convert some of the 3ds files from the 3D-Studio Forum into .dxf. The animation program I have can only import .DXF files, so I would be very interested. -David

Hi, I've tried the demo of WinImages:Morph. It's quite easy to do mophings with it. But it can only morph still pictures. How does morphing of a moving object in film work? I could take the frames of each of the two films and morph each frame pair, but that…

Peter, This converter is sure a very good tool, but as long as I don't make animation commercally the simple .dxf in and out has to be enough. …unfortunately -David

Ben, wow! Looks like this program has some very nice features! Maybe you at Black Blet should at least add some basic documentation to the demo, that people understand what this program can do. Do you know any dealer in germany (I don't mind an english version, actually I prefer…

Hi Quinten, Thanks very much! I'll contact them next week. Good to know there is a dealer here in Germany. OTOH mostly the software is much more expensive in Germany than in the US. There won't be a german version, right? thanks again, -David

>> Which formats are important to you? I think .DXF and .3DS are the only imortant for me so far, but I have to admit, that I don't know too much about what other formats might be interesting when working with Imagine. But before we go on, I don't have…

Peter, I tought about the Syquest. I really need a medium to store all my animations (not only the animation, but all the single pictures). OTOH the Syquest is a bit expensive just using it for backups. I don't even have a streamer -David

I have seen the picture "strike" with the falling bowls, but I don't think it is don't with a raytracer only. I haven't heard of any raytracer that makes the typical blur of a photo taken with low shutter speed. I'll wait for the next Imagine version anyway. It wouldn't…

Sounds interesting. At the moment I don't have Imagine at all, I'll wait for version 3.0. .DXF import and export is very important, IMO. What formats does you converter accepts? Can it also read the files from 3DS? -David

James, thanks for the info. I was just interested, I don't want to buy a computer for Imagine. At the moment I have a small animation programm, with a slow raytracer, and "only" a 386/40+387, but speed is not the problem, it's more the disk space (I only have 230mb).…

Hi Vance, thanks very much for your detailed answer. At the moment I don't have the money to buy an Amiga4000, so my PC will have to do. I'm sure Imagine will become my favorite renderer, but I will wait for version 3.0. Have you ever worked/tried 3D-Studio? How does…

Hi James, there is a very good .fli and .flc player (play.exe)for DOS. It's from trilobyte and it's available in the autodesk forum or in the graphdev forum. It uses as much memory as available on the computer and if not enough to hald the whole animation it plays form…
