AW Cover (2/95) Message #180482

Amiga World didn't say so, but ALL FOUR fractal images on the cover were created by FractalPro (the sphere is done by wrapping a FractalPro image on it in LightWave). Most of the images used in the feature article (February 1995 issue) are also FractalPro images and many were taken…

From what I saw of Amiga C compiler output a while back I'd have to doubt your optimism on 'fixing' C programs, but I've heard the SAS compiler has come a long way so I hope you're right. Profiling should be fairly obvious to many programs, but isn't. I'd suggest…

A few bucks, I suppose. I have customers who occasionally ask for one for their own use. Those who bought A4000 and some A1200 owners got them in their packages. Those with A2000's and A3000's sometimes find they need one. I have a couple for my own use but I'll…

Thanks for the info, Bruce. I did open it up and find the HCT08 so I thought maybe you'd done a replacement for it even simpler than the Sync Strainer. Can the Sync Strainer serve as a substitue (albeit the SS is 'more' than needed here) for the -01 adapter?…

#180105 Flyer Specs Message #180469
From: daniel wolf Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors January 2, 1995 1:27 AM
I believe the highest quality levels are indeed implemented on the current incarnation of the Flyer. The use compression but it is a very reasonable type of compression which may vary between truly lossless and slight (visually negligible) loss. The second quality level now available has definitely 'lossy' compression but…

Hank, be sure to only load Toaster Effect croutons from some regular hard drive (NOT a Flyer drive). Flyer won't be able to both play video AND load a Toaster Effect crouton from a Flyer drive at the same time – hence the error. The Flyer checks IN ADVANCE of…

Interesting thing about the Warp, Steve. It seems a lot of the Warp's advantage in speed is that is has its own memory bus and beats the Amiga 4000's usual slow memory access by a lot. I checked FractalPro on the Warp40mhz and found it was exactly 1.6 times as…

Compared to anything similar in quality and ease of use, the Toaster/ Flyer is a bargain. D2 tape decks run in the 10's of thousands of $$.

True, as supplied by NewTek the Flyer does not need an EDL or SMPTE. It is extremely easy to set up a fully edited project with Toaster transitions between clips in just minutes. And the end result is very beautiful video with ease. Others may wish to do other things,…

AmiVR glasses are interchangeable with XSpecs glasses but AmiVR is a VIDEO-based interface (rather than joystick) so it works with the sync part of the composite video signal to operate the glasses. Works with any Amiga's video out (A1000, A500, A1200, A2000, etc.) or any video source such as a…

Apparently some current delay involves detailed research on who really owns what as of now – namely, Commodore's patents, what they cover, their validity, their transferability, etc. A legal matter that may indeed account for a few more weeks delay.
