AAP/Summa problems
Message #6409
Phil – I wasn't using -vscan with AAP — only with AutoCAD. I tried -novm and haven't had any problems yet, so… Dave
J.R… here ya go: LaunchCAD look for LAUNCH.EXE in Lib 9 "What's New" SlideManager SLIDEM.EXE 10 "Utilities" Checklisp CHKLSP.ZIP 2 "AutoLISP/ADS Cadet CADET3.ZIP 8 "Applications" Ally ALLY20.ZIP 9 "What's New" Happy unzipping!! Dave
Christian – Softsource has a Windows version of Drawing Librarian. You can contact them by sending a message to John Gossman 70451,1162. It's much more limited than Drawing Librarian Pro, but it IS a real Windows app. Dave
My gawd… that's terrible! And it looks like it's even worse in Germany!! Dave
Gale – right!! I just referred someone else to your prog this morning! Dave
Ziad – have you run the NEWDX program on your ACAD.EXE file yet? Makes a big difference! Dave
Jake – thanks. Isn't there ANYTHING wrong with this program??? I've heard nothing but raves about it! Dave
Ralph – unfortunately, that seems to be a typical markup between the US and the UK… one dollar equals one pound sterling! Happens with compact discs too. I wonder what happened to the technology/code in CAD/camera 2… judging from your review, it could do stuff that the better ones currently…
JP – we've GOT to get you out of marketing!!!
Tom – print your schedule to a file, then use ASCTEXT.LSP from the bonus menu to bring the PRN file into the drawing. You should first set a text style with a monospaced font (e.g., MONOTXT) to make sure your columns line up. Dave
Jake – how do Norton's File Locate and Text Search work on STACKERed volumes? Dave
Wow – A CAD/camera user!! Are you still using it? How does you like it? Have you looked at any newer products? Dave PS – you should have at least three or four times the size of your drawing available as free disk space. On an 80Mb drive with CAD/camera…
Ralph – thanks. I doubt if I can make it… Dave
Andrew – thanks for the info! It's for an article that I have to have done the day before yesterday . I found a very old CADalyst (Nov '86) that has a review of version 2 by the inimitable Ralph G. It listed for US $3,000 (man, they really zing…
Dennis – 'scuse me for jumping in in the middle of this… are you looking for DCA templates? I gots a slew of them, certainly for Release 10 and, I think, for Release 11 too. They came with the software; there's the standard overlay and underlays for Landscape and Civil.…
Oh. Well, I was close… Dave
#CAD Camera history
Message #21717
Duff – can you fill me in on a few details about CAD Camera, please? Mainly, what was it — an overlay program like CAD Overlay, or an automatic vectorizer, like Draftsman? How much did it cost, what kind of hardware did it require, and when as it on the…
Jerry – one man's opinion… That's a pretty tolerable list. Not much I'd change, except get 16Mb if you can swing it; probably another $350-400, but well worth it. Diamond Speedstar is a popular card. Make sure you get some display list software to go with it, like Vibrant's SoftEngine…
Rod – you don't need SEA utilities, per se… compressed files with the ARC extension can be decompressed with PKUNPAK. You can get that program, along with PKPAK and all relevant docs, by downloading PK361.EXE from Lib 10 "Utilities". The BIN extension is usually put on by Compuserve; if you…
Larry – sounds like you are looking for CHKLSP.ZIP in Lib 2 "AutoLISP/ADS". You'll need to uncompress it with PKUNZIP. Dave
Saulo – I trust you saw Mark's reply to my suggestion to you about recreating the PWD? I didn't have the whole thread and incorrectly assumed you were running standalone. I don't think you should delete ACAD.PWD if you're on a net!!! (Especially if there are others using it!!!!!!) Dave
Lee – there was something in a very recent Cadalyst about transmission lines — would that be it? If so, check the month of the issue and look for a file named after it; e.g., if it was in the October 1991 issue, you should go to Lib 9 "What's…
Peter – outta my face. Dave

STACKER COMPRESSION
Message #21609
Larry – I just chatted with someone on IBMHW from Stac. Asked him about optimizing, since I am attached to Fasttrax, and he suggested it was not an advisable thing to do. He DID say that Stacker 2.0 comes with its own optimization routine. Dave
#AUTOCAD CONFERENCE
Message #21607
Um…. Ralph….
Mark – can't say about 3DS, but I used the Summasketch driver in AA and am now using the one in Anipro, and they both work just fine. Hardware is a Summasketch Plus (1201). Dave
Steven – you should move your question over to the other Autodesk forum [GO ACAD] — that's where the AutoCAD stuff happens. This one [GO ASOFT] is about Autodesk's multimedia and scientific programs. What you are looking for is a plot spooler. One that comes to mind is Plump from…
Craig – I'm going to forward your message to Mark Middlebrook who knows hunks about Chaos. Dave
Mr Bugman – please hop over to the other Autodesk Forum [GO ACAD] and pose your question there. There has indeed been discussion on this topic and there is, I believe, a fix in one of the libs. FYI, this forum [GO ASOFT] is for Autodesk's multimedia and scientific programs…
Tim – I haven't checked in the other forum yet, so maybe you've already done this, but your ad rightly belongs over there [GO ACAD]. This one [GO ASOFT] focuses on Autodesk's multimedia and scientific programs; the other one focuses on AutoCAD. Dave
Arlice – you don't need a VGA card to participate in this forum. You participate by reading messages and replying to them, by uploading and downloading files to the data libraries, and by taking part in any conferences that happen. It looks like you're already doing it! Is there anything…
Tom – I don't know enough about Desqview to know whether memory is a problem or not. I run AutoCAD and Wordperfect in DV windows, but AutoCAD runs at VGA res. I only do it this way when I'm writing; when I do production drafting I don't run DV because…
Thomas – I think the only way you can do what you want with Desqview is to obtain a driver for your graphics card. Some do have higher res drivers, but many don't. You could also try pursuing this in Quarterdeck's own forum, which is Section 1 of the PCVENB…
Chuck – sounds like you might have been on just long enough for the system to reset your high message number (HMN). What happens is that the system monitors the msgs you download and resets the high message number each time, so you don't keep downloading the same messages over…
Ray – but you run the risk of other forum members viewing your ad as an irritant. People may well remember your name, but not in the way you'd like them to ! Dave
