#118929 #Newton Message #118988
From: Sean Lally Amiga User Forum · Amiga Hardware October 20, 1993 2:23 AM
I thought that I'd heard or read that the Newton doesn't actually learn your personal hand writing, but gets better and better at matching your handwriting to one of the 54 samples in the ROM. I think I'd be out of luck if that were the case. My hand writing…

Hello Dale, I think it's just new ROMS. I also think that they're only going to be compatable with modems that were made after April (bummer) which leaves me out in the cold. I'm not sure about the cost either. Your ZyXEL sounds like it's a good deal. I guess…

I think you're right about that. Oh well… -Sean

I guess I should have been more clear. What I meant was that since the Supra has been released for the Mac with voice that the hardware within the Mac Supra would be the same as that within the Amiga Supra and we are just waiting for the software support.…
From: Sean Lally Amiga User Forum · Communications October 13, 1993 2:41 AM
I wonder if we're not just waiting on software to support voice, Ron. It seems to me (although I am anything but an expert) that the hardware in the modems would be pretty much the same for all machines. Is this not the case? I'm looking forward to voice support…

Hello Colin, Check in the AmigaVendor forum for a program called AutoPilot. The filename is AP.LHA. It will take care of all your forum needs including downloading, and reading and writing messages. For your initial download problems try using the CIS B+ or Quick B protocols. If your Term program…

Thanks for filling in some holes, Karl. It's amazing the things that I forget. I wish I had seen some CISers there, bummer. I looked for people with scotch tape on the forehead or the dollar bill bow ties, none of the above. Maybe nobody recognized me because I was…

I wish I would have gotten your message before I left today to go to WOCA, Erik. This was the only day I was going to go. I *really* wish I had brought some notetaking utensils! The bits of news that stuck (and they're going to be biased to my…

Hello Erik, Not knowing much about speakers, I just assumed that the magnets in them were powered by the non-existant batteries. That's what I get for thinking I know something (I wonder how many other 'facts' like that are stuck in my head?)! Holy Cow! I just picked up that…

Bill, As far as I know the monitor hasn't been exposed to any large magnetic fields. It might be my imagination, but the spot seems to be shrinking. I wish I had recorded it's initial size. It removed some of my stress to know that the degauss circuitry isn't nessasarily…

More tips! Thanks, Erik, keep 'em coming. I recently moved the monitor from England to CA and it looked fine for a couple of days. The other day though, we were doing some rearranging of furniture and it might have happened after we moved things around. It was moved gently…

Bill, Thanks for the comprehensive response. For some reason the spot looks smaller today, could be my imagination. I don't have external degauss equipment. I'll try to find my owners manual and give Seiko a call to see what they've got to say about the possibility of the degauss circuitry…

Thanks for the reply, Erik. I left the monitor off overnight and turned it on again this morning and it still had the spot, bummer! I wonder if they ever have the degauss circuitry connected to a counter on the on/off switch? I wish I had my manual handy. Does…

Hello, I've got an anoying problem, I just noticed a 'brown spot' in the lower left hand corner of my Seiko 1440 monitor. I was hoping there was some kind of deguassing circuitry built in and would do away with it when I turned it on this morning, no go.…

Douglas, Did you use the icon and script (which used the included Lhx to do the decompression) to decompress the files? I tried that and for some reason it was having problems extracting all the files from the archive. I skipped that step and decompressed it with my copy of…

Adil, I used my American bought (60Hz, 110VAC) Amiga in the UK (50Hz, 220VAC) by using a simple step-up transformer. The difference in frequency didn't seem to change things. Since the mains are 220 I would assume you'd be able to just plug n' chug. -Sean -Sean

Hello Michael, I just d/led the CacheX program and according to the docs it's 3.0 specific and requires an '020 or better processor. I thought with the recent discussion about how the files were to be labeled that this file should probably be tagged as OS 3.0 specific. -Sean
