#182492 Lofting Problems Message #182571
Thank you Martin, I' take the point about halving and cloning – I think that's a great principle. SR

Thanx Matt, I had a horrid feeling that this was going to be the case! Hmmm, think I'll just stew for a while b4 making a decision about how to proceed. Thank you for supporting me, Scott Surrey, England
#182415 #Lofting Problems Message #182428
Thanx Alan It's great to know I'm not the only one who has had problems with this issue. I find that generally 3DS is so complex, the hardest decision to make is often which particular way to skin a cat, not whether or not it can be done! My Son…
#182260 Lofting Problems Message #182330
Guys, I still don't get it! However it's 12:30 am here and my brain's overloaded; assuming you guys are in the states i should be back with more crazy and stupid questions on this topic by the a.m. your time. Astonished by the ongoing support by everyone out there… Reynolds…

Thanx Ralph, the problem I have with Deform Fit is it doen't allow more than one shape – therefore the truck doors/windscreen scenario isn't handled and I end up with a more-or-less solid square shape for the cab, i.e. not hollow, don't I? Thanx for your help (remember I'm a novice)…
#Lofting Problems Message #182165
Hello Phil, Fresh from the previous triumphant solution you provided, may I ask a more general question about 3ds lofting principles? I need to loft a simple truck (and specifically it's cab) from a 2d plan, DXF (again!). i.e. a hollow, complex, holed (the windows/windscreen) object. Is there a recognised…

HELP! DXF problems!! Message #181785
Oh Phil, you total hero! Sounds like you've solved my problem for me. I _will_ send some example DXFs that behave the same as those which I described, – SysOp, I've never done this before, presumably I zip and upload, but where to – the library section of this forum?…
#181632 HELP! DXF problems!! Message #181718
Thanx for getting back again Phil. Let me go right back to the start. 1. I, me, scott, am working purely with 3ds, not ACAD. 2. A friend with ACAD Lite (no, he's not an architect, just keen!) asked me to render up some 2d plans of an office, with…
#181505 #HELP! DXF problems!! Message #181609
Hi Phil, The (DXF has got 14 layers 0,plus A through M, with "extent markers" on layer 0), so I have got the author to save 13 DXFs, layer 0 + A on, then layer 0 + B on , layer 0 + C etc. This whole problem has arisen…
#181481 #HELP! DXF problems!! Message #181498
Thanx Dave, I'm pretty familiar with the lofter and shaper rules, I just can't get 2nd and subsequent loads of the same DXF to see more than layer 1 of the ( multi-layer) DXF file, without first quitting 3DS completely – merging also fails to see more than layer 1…
HELP! DXF problems!! Message #181120
Can anyone help me please? I am trying to import a number of flat (2d) DXF files into the 2D shaper for lofting. Each of the DXFs were created using AutoCad Lite for Windows from 2 individual layers of the same .DWG file. Problem is, after I import the first…

Ahh, sorry. Misunderstood the point. Nope, I don't know of any, but if you hear of something, *please* let me know too! Reynolds

Probably not the answer you want to hear, but I use Adobe Premier for Windows to post-process 3DS4 FLics TGAs etc into AVIs. This also allows padding /interleaving for CD-ROM playback.
Totally smobgacked. Even as we speak I am paying homage to your craven image and killing the fatted calf (well, vegeburger actually). Thanks Mark, you restore my faith in human nature by allowing novices like me to get stuff like this. For God's sake don't go and work for Autodesk,…
#173953 #batch render help? Message #174096
Thanx Gayle. Seems like he's seen the request already. It warms the cockles of my heart to find kindred (and presumably not Autodesk-employed) spirits out there, especially given the ridiculous situation I have of not being able to speak to AD personnel directly in England. BTW what's SAVANTES? Company name…
I use Adobe premiere. Not free, but does the trick. Simply load the FLIC and tell it to make the movie. Hope it helps…. Reynolds
#batch render help? Message #173950
Can anyone help me with a soppy question regarding batch rendering, please? If I have a 3DS4 project with 2 or more camera views set up for keyframer animation, is there any way I can override the "view" used during animation? I can't seem to find a command line parameter…
