>>Maybe we could encourage Javier to make a new meat ball modeler… Well Francisco… now that you mention it … Your message has been for me like a session of psicotherapy. Back in 1981 while I was in my Military Service I remember perfectly one day I spent making meat…
Thanx Jonas, We only need the little baby to complete the Meta Family! -Javi
Hello Francisco. I will answer you in English.Later today I will send you a private mail (Only spanish, I promise!) Rhino texture was done in photoshop from elephant and Rhino photos. I think the male waves you mention are due to high rate jpeg compression. Regarding MetaReyes texture mapping it…
Hello Kyle, Thanx for the message. The Rhino model has been done by Concha Garcia (Concha is a girl , if you are not used to Spanish names) and was textured by Jose Maria. -Javi

Hello ! I have uploaded a couple of images of models done with MetaReyes 2.0. (RINO.JPG and HOMBRE.JPG in library 1) .The male belongs to a production and the Rhino to our demo. Any comments will be greatly appreciated. -Javi In the case of the Rhino both the model and…
Hi Kyle, The head images are really impressive!. From the proportions to the skin mapping, not to mention the way you defined the hair. Every model you make is better than the previous. Congratulations. -Javi
Great, great images. I never thought that could be done without programming. Congratulations. -Javi
Hello Wim, The last release of MetaReyes is 2.0 that is already finished but waiting for manuals , etc. I suppose it will hit the market in few weeks. With it you can have several Metaball objects in scene at the same time and there is no longer METABALL material.…
Hi Kyle , I just saw the image and it makes me thing in Giger style of organic creations. Do you like Giger works ? – Javi
Meta-muscles are just GREAT. Will your planet studio article deal with this model ? -Javi
>>Its my impression that lots of professional modeling is done with >>digitizers which are more expensive than software solutions >>How could they sell these digitizers if modeling on the computer was >>easier? I dont know. But the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park did cost a lot. A lot of money to…
Hello Mike, Yes , I am sure it is quite different to work with a computer than doing it with real material. I didnt want to look extremist! I just wanted to point out that the closest thing available on a computer to clay modelling is (from my point of…
Hi Edward, All I can say is that the name of SoftImage's metaball package is META-CLAY and that of course real CLAY is a fluid. If you think metaball modelling is primitive , think about the 6 hours it took to model the female torso of METAP2.JPG and the 2…
Metaball upgrade
Message #165990
the hierarchies of the spheres are up to the user, so that you can link lines or groups of spheres to articulated 3DS segments without restriction. With AXP MetaReyes generation you would have a different mesh per frame. Or you could Generate the mesh once with the PXP generator and…
>> Real time generation … Of course that will be possible some time. (By the way , Jose Maria is always demanding me that). PC's are 2 or 3 times faster every year. So that something that takes 1 hour now will take 3-4 seconds in 7 years. Of course…
Hello James, With other Metaballs like MetaClay for SGI or Meta Editor for SGI, you control the fusion of the spheres with two wireframe circles. One is the Metaball size and the second is its influence. That sounds great with 8 or 10 Metaballs , but its literally a MESS…
Hello Andy, In order to purchase MetaReyes you have to contact SCHREIBER INSTRUMENTS CIS: 73362,466 Regarding animated examples release 2.0 is very new , so we have few examples (For your message I suppose you have seen T-REX and the female torso) .There are a couple of release 1.0 animated…

Kyle. Even better than the first ones!. New textures are great. One question. How many metaballs did you use for the whole model ? Congratulations. -Javi
The latest release 1 version of Mshape is 1.01c . You should update to that. If that doesnt solve your problem you better wait for release 2.0 that is almost HERE.
Yes, as well as the Woman model and a few more. -Javi
MetaReyes is $495 within the U.S.A and $595 foreign orders. -Javi
Glad you liked the Dinosaur. You will see it in motion soon. -Javi
Hello Don, What is your current MSHAPE version ? (From the Mshape menu). -Javi
Hello Peter. Sorry for the delay answering your question. The rendering time of the temple scene with a couple of T-REX's was 1 hour on a DX2 66Mhz. -Javi
Hello Mike, Its a question of a couple or three weeks maximun. Now I am adding fast-preview cappabilities in order to give visual feedback over the mesh and the control spheres (something like the sphere renderings you saw in the Human torso & T-REX images. -Javi
Hello David, No, the MetaReyes AXP doesnt save the resulting mesh into a file. From your comments I see that this possibility is interesting and I will study it carefully. -Javi
>>People are finally starting to judge folks on their artistic merit, instead of on their size of pocketbook. In the 3D world, this is a new and very welcome phenomenon. Sure it is.I think workstations are a vestige of Corporative Informatics ,something that is far away from the people and…
>>Well , Were is our 80 tons T-REX !? Well ,he (or she , who knows …) is safely back. As you can see the mystery sorrounding Dinosaurs extintion is perfectly actual !! . >> Dinosaurs have always been my favorite thing to do in 3DS … So was our…
Gary , The only thing we can tell you is that every new day we are happier of having changed from SGI-wavefront to PC-3DStudio. Here you are worth what you make , and not how much money you have. (This last frase sounds like a Frank Cappra movie, doesnt it?)…
Good morning. The steps I have followed for texturing T-REX have been: 1) Stablish a FRONT view of the T-REX mesh covering as much of the screen as possible. Tail and head just touching the safe-frame line. 2) Do the render with default color. 3) Use your favorite paint program…
Thanx, You are in the right!, we have discovered that Jurassic Park is almost 3DStudio quality render!! Now we are very busy but our plan is to make different models with MetaReyes 2.0 and upload them here in Metaball format for free. >> is it possble to animate the t-rex?…
Good morning, I myself have felt that many times , but here I am alive and breathing. (breathing to pay my bank credits, but breathing …) 🙁 -Jose Maria
Well , Were is our 80 tons T-REX !? This morning we found out it had vanished !. Maybe someone from I.L.M has converted it into a fox-terrier hearing our comments? (An invisible fox-terrier indeed). Well, we will send it again right now. Hope he wont go back to Cretaceus…
Hi Gary, Object Snapshot has proven to be an INCREDIBLE tool for structure definition. It would be impossible to place by hand all the intermediate steps that make the T-REX tail or muscles ,with that mathematical accuracy in position and scale without it. I have never seen such a complex…
Kyle, Thanx from Jose Maria. Yes, the model has been inspired in the drawings by Doug Hendersson and Crash McCreery. At least in the preliminary ones because as the film project evolved the T-REX was modified in order to give a more fierce or cruel look, changing the eyebrow angles…
Hi Jason, T-REX has just appeared in IPAS USAGE library section. Any comment will be greatly apreciated. -Javi
Hello…. I am Jose Maria…. well, my english is so limited that… …oh, what T-REX!!.. but what I really wanted to do was a Fox Terrier… may be in my next life…..uhh ….bye.. T-REX MARIA.
We have just posted it! -Javi
Hello James, We have just posted a very complex T-REX model made of 1173 metaballs that could be a good example. The modelling was done in two days and one important tool for that modelling has been OBJECT/SNAPSHOT keyframer command that allows the repetition of many metaballs along a path…
Thank you for the information. Jose Maria Uses the same memory manager and has also those nasty messages sometimes. -Javi
That sounds much like voyeurism!. Regarding textures in the back , you can apply the "detailed" texture only to the front poligons and a less "detailed" texture to those in the back. -Javi
Thank you Alan, All I can say is , WAIT FOR THE 1200 Metaballs T-REX! I will post it on Friday. Jose Maria is finishing it, and what I have seen is … &%$%&???=/&% !! -Javi
Hello Kyle, The girl example has texture aplied to the mesh, not to the Metaballs. We have been working very hard in textures aplied to Metaballs , and the technical problem is already solved. You will be able to texture map moving metaballs in aprox. 3 months. >> wish for…
Hello David, Sure you can use Bones animation. The MetaReyes PXP can create a mesh of poligons suitable for "Boning". And about IK you can link spheres to various segments and generate with the AXP a mesh per frame related to the position of the spheres in that moment. -Javi
Thanks John! -Javi
Hi Mike, The girl is a mesh of 49K poligons, but you can get a 20K simplified mesh with the SIMPLIFY built in option. -Javi
Hello Bob, Thanx for your message. All I can tell you about that scroll is that it doesnt depend on the model , but on the machine. I have other user with the same extrange messages during render. Once I know something I'll let you know. -Javi
