Just a general note I finally squeezed (And I mean squeezed) out of Diamond… All video cards with 2MB ram and S3 chips are not capable of Truecolour under OS/2. You must have 4MB on the card… -john- DAS.

Hi Greg… Yes I expect it's the program… and bad luck ! I use (or try to when it works) the software CServe provide so if it don't work CSERVE don't work as far as I'm concerned. It has allowed a restart so I know it does it. -john- DAS

John I find it often helps to bevel OUT rather than in… Also watch out for trying to bevel with the limits set larger than the text size! It can be confusing and a triffle picky but it's quite good once you get the hang. -john-

Just a suggestion from experience… If you're going to buy Diamond make sure you or someone you know has seen one doing what you want to do first… Don't believe the advertising or manuals that come with the card. Drivers seem to be a serious problem for this company. -john-

The advice I've had on this is If your output device (Targa in your case) is capable of outputting fields and you are using motion – especially motion that comes to a halt – always render to fields… On the start/stop keys use ease to and from to smooth things…
I wouldn't mind so much if they just wrote some decent OS/2 drivers… Appart from the poor drivers it's not a bad card.

Ernie.. You might want to try OS/2… The virtual disc does the paging and 3DS never sees paging (reports 0 all the time) so presumably you don't have the problem of re-starting 3DS to stop page faulting every time if you're low on ram. It seems to work that way…

Out of interest you can do useful work with 3DS in just 8M of ram. A factory floor animation I did with this amount had 60K faces and 150 frames and rendered in about 12 hours (overnight!) on a 66M pentium. Ok if you don't mind leaving it running… john
