From: Greg Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors October 16, 1993 12:51 PM
Atari does have a license for Photo CD use. We publish an authorized Photo CD application called Photo Show for the Atari Falcon 030. We also publish Virtual BookMaker for Windows.

From: Greg Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors October 11, 1993 8:59 PM
The point I was making in my original post to Dale Strang was that I was suprised that Amiga World would consider the cracking of code and unauthorized use of Kodak technology a major breakthrough for the Amiga and worthy of the front cover of the magazine. If this code…
#Renegade Software Message #117571
From: Greg Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors October 10, 1993 7:31 PM
While browsing through some magazines at a news stand this weekend, the October 1993 issue of Amiga World caught my eye. The cover featured a Kodak Photo CD disc and a CD rom player. As I wasn't aware that Photo CD was available on the Amiga, I bought a copy…
#52021 NEC Multispin Message #52695
From: Greg CDROM Forum · Drives/Hardware July 13, 1993 9:27 PM
The NEC-38 has a DIP switch on the bottom. Read the manual for setting standard speed. It also switches between SCSI and SCSI-2, which may also be the problem.

Do a DIR *.AVI /S on the disc. There are quite a few .AVI files in one of the demo folders that aren't accessible from the ToolBook menu.

Hope you took a camera with you. 100 ASA or faster film works best. Have fun.

You should have a copy of Virtual BookMaker by now. If you have any questions, give me a call.

With the last of couple of Nautilus, the first thing we do is a DIR *.AVI /S on it. Looking forward to seeing more.

HEDGE.AVI Message #38058
From: Greg CDROM Forum · NAUTILUS PC January 25, 1993 9:22 PM
The HEDGE.AVI on Volume 3, Issue 1, of Nautilus was great. Hope to see more of the same in the future. The one AVI file was worth the price of the disc!

I have a Reveal 24 bit card with the same problem. Ask your card manufacturer if they have a driver update that will work. Some 24 bit drivers choke on 256 color graphics because of their Windows driver.

Even without the need for Photo CD, the Trantor upgrade will turn the old 7205 into a MPC capable drive and even let you view .AVI files at a decent rate. Trantors number is (800) TRANTOR.
From: Greg CDROM Forum · General January 22, 1993 10:04 PM
The Trantor upgrade kit works very well with single session Photo CD discs and the Sony Laser Library. I've experienced no problems with it and it does speed drive access by a large margin. Kind of like getting a whole new drive for $39.00. Trantor did a nice job on…

From: Greg CDROM Forum · Drives/Hardware January 17, 1993 7:06 AM
The Trantor software and our Virtual BookMaker make a great combination for viewing Photo CD on the 7205 drives. In fact we have one installed now on our test system. The Trantor software also increasing the speed of the 7205 by a large margin.
From: Greg CDROM Forum · General January 13, 1993 11:09 PM
The Trantor upgrade kit at about $40 and a program like Virtual BookMaker or some paint programs will let you view Photo CD on the 7205.
#PHOTO CD Message #28351
From: Greg CDROM Forum · Marketplace October 10, 1992 11:01 PM
We did a demo of Virtual BookMaker at the McDonnel Douglas Computer Show in Saint Louis today. We had all the photos on a Photo CD disc made into prints from negatives by CPI Photo Finish. In every case the image on the monitor was better than the print made…

#25487- #PAS + Sony Message #25680
From: Greg CDROM Forum · DOS, Windows, OS/2 August 23, 1992 8:49 AM
The 7205 Sony drive is XA capable, the Sony interface is not. Will the Media Vision card allow XA reads with the Laser Library drive for photo CD applications?
#25594- #Kodak Photo CD Support Message #25679
From: Greg CDROM Forum · General August 23, 1992 8:43 AM
Virtual BookMaker will run on any computer with Windows 3.1, 2 meg of memory, and a drive that can read CD XA format. It allows you to mix BMP. .WAV, .MID, and .TXT files into a virtual book or letter. Photo CD support includes the ability to view and convert…

That's what I thought. I have swept out my HD before installing Windows 3.1, compacted and cleaned out. When I reinstalled Street Atlas it worked fine the first time.
From: Greg CDROM Forum · Drives/Hardware April 25, 1992 3:24 AM
Try a reinstall of Atlas because mine does work faster under 3.1 than 3.0. Yours should work too.
Magnavox CDD-461RS Message #19341
From: Greg CDROM Forum · Drives/Hardware March 18, 1992 3:51 AM
Is the Maganavox CDD-461RS drive a SCSI drive or proprietary?
From: Greg CDROM Forum · Drives/Hardware January 26, 1992 12:27 AM
Waiting with CD rom could be a mistake. The CD version of Mixed Up Mother Goose is 10 times better than the old version. Our Tune Trivia game for CD rom makes for better game play than ever possible without.

When it comes to sound cards the relationship between price and quality is one to one. And when you factor in the lower price cards needing an adapter for MIDI, it makes it even worse.
From: Greg CDROM Forum · Drives/Hardware January 17, 1992 12:31 AM
I ordered the Multisound CD from Turtle Beach. They do comparisons of the SB Pro and PAS to their Multisound system. Both SB and PAS have FM sounds that are about as good as a K-Mart Blue light special. The PAS card is much better at digitizing. You can get…
